I heard we are going back to 2016…
I’m not one who follows trends much, but I was curious what 2016 looked like for me.. and I realized it is the year I was « CALLED » to put on the hijab! 🧕🏼
I say I was called, because it really wasn’t in my plan near or far!! The month before I was on the beach in Hurghada living my life normally.. but there was sth in the back of my mind! It started this week.. a voice in my head saying, how about you wear this instead of that? How about you get fully dressed for the breakfast buffet then go change for the beach.. how about you wear these shorts for the waterpark instead of just walking around with your swim suit?
Coming back to Cairo and went shopping.. again the voice in my head, get this long shirt instead of this t-shirt.. buy these jeans they’re much nicer than the skinny ones.. so when I say CALLED, I’m not kidding!!
4 weeks later.. I made sure no one was home, I put it on and left home! Why did I make sure no one was home you ask? I’m not very sure but there was an adrenaline rush that I felt maybe if someone would ask me what are you wearing.. I might have hesitated!!
10 years has gone by now.. I won’t say it was an easy ride, but I know for sure that it got easier… challenging, yes!! very much, but the bigger the challenge the bigger the reward, I don’t think if it was easy we would be promised heaven..
Through these 10 years I have tried every style, every color and every shape.. Yet I must thank a lot of the local brands for making it easier for me to be happy with how I look..
I wanted to share this short story with you to show my support for all my friends out there.. we are all in this together.. It is hard I’m sure but when we are all together and show that we are fighting through.. it becomes easier.. the company makes the hardship of the journey disappear ✨
