Jonatan Flores is 42 year old violin maker from Zacatecas, Mexico. He is the son of sculptor Sergio Flores and learned from him to work with many different materials such plaster, aluminium, paper, clay and of course wood.
At the age of 18 he began his work and studies in Luthery in Xalapa, Veracruz, with the master Archetier and Luthier Octavio Aranda. Later he started working in the workshop of the Master Luthier Arael Landa from whom learned the Cremonese method of violin construction. In 2005 he opened his own luthery workshop focused mainly on the construction of violins and violas. Years later he moved his workshop and residence to the city of Querétaro where he continued to enrich his training by attending courses taught by Luthiers such as Francois Denis, Cláudio Amighetti, Cristián Rault and Pablo Alfaro. Since 2013 he lives and works in the city of Zacatecas.
