This afternoon’s workshop was creating large platters and a smaller matching plate. Summery lemons, flowers and tomatoes 🍋🌻🍅
I love the bright colours and unique designs.
Most of the people that come to my workshops have never had a go at creating with clay and I’m always impressed at the end of the day to see the results.

A couple of weeks ago Sig Natrott and myself experimented with botanicals and faience clay to create these platters. I bisque fired them and then today we added colour with underglazes. The impressions took the colours really well and it will be really interesting to see how they look after they’ve been glazed.
We also created oversized mugs that I think will be great for soup or a serious coffee lover!

I’ve been trying out some new models ready for my next markets. These will be fixed onto steel rods to go outside in the garden 🐓🐈🐸

Mary Harris came to this afternoon’s workshop ready prepared with her sketch book to create a set of plates inspired by the artist Henri Matisse.
They are so creative and colourful..I love them! Well done Mary 🤗

I created the oval dish using paper resists, layering the colours and then added texture using some of my 3D printed stamps and some wooden stamps.
Mary also collected her colourful set of small dishes that she made on a previous workshop.
We had a lovely afternoon together and I’m really looking forward to our next session together.

I really enjoyed this afternoons workshop creating bowls and dishes. All the ladies were really creative with the decorating and came up with their own unique designs.

I think clay reclaim has to be the worst part of pottery… I wish I could add « smell o vision » so you could share my experience 😆😆🤢🤢😵‍💫😵‍💫
All the scraps at the end of each workshop that can’t be reused immediately due to becoming too dry are thoroughly dried out and then soaked in water to make them reusable. This sludge will sit on the plaster batt for a few days to dry out before it can be wedged and put back into use again.

This afternoon’s workshop with Sig Natrott was really creative using botanicals and faience clay.
It was really interesting experimenting with different leaves and wild flowers that we’d gathered from the hedgerows and our gardens.
We made hand formed platters which I think look really lovely.
They will be bisque fired and then we will add some colourful underglazes to bring out the details. They will be finished with a transparent glaze.
We also coloured our bisqued chickens with some experimental underglazes so it will be a surprise when I open the kiln.
