Rare treat for me… NEW fabric (not thrifted/second hand or Vinted). All chosen for no specific purpose other than quilt making ❤️

I never buy for a pattern.

I just like to collect lots of fabric until I have enough to put in a semi coordinated bundle and then I start chopping 😊.

I’ve been tempted to buy curated matching bundle sets, but they are so expensive and I don’t always like all of the prints in the bundle.

But with this selection, I love every single one.
From my favourite online shop Wool Warehouse .(they deliver to France no problem, but remember you will have to pay douane import charges)

They never disappoint 😊 it’s a delight to get a package from them.

The allotment has been such a lovely journey 🤩
Cutting down those oversized pines was nerve wracking and costly, but it freed up a lovely little corner that we always had quiet plans for.
Due to my illness, we started super small, and kept it that way for a couple of years.
But this year, 2026, with a lot of support from my wonderful Mr T ❤️ , we upped to 4 raised beds, and it’s been great. Despite the heatwaves scuppering some of my plans, we’ve managed to grow quite a lot, and as such, have eaten so much from the garden. It’s such a joy.
I don’t want to wish my life away, but I feel next year will be even better as I’ve learnt so much this year. Hurrah for having an allotment. If you talked to Jo of 20 years ago, I don’t think she would ever have imagined all this gardening (and quilt making)😊
As we enter our third heatwave, and I’m loosing my sweetcorn 😢 and some of the beans are drying up (but others are doing fine!) it’s good to look back on the progress and successes 💪🏼

Despite the crazy weather, complete dryness and heatwave after heatwave, it’s still very pleasing to be able to eat from the garden.
This was a super simple, all in one, pot dinner. Plenty for the both of us for a couple of days, plus more to share 🩷
It’s such a joy to cook from the garden. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of it.

Scrappy star block, using lots of left overs. This quilt was a delight to make.
I started cutting the fabric in June 2025 and finished it at the beginning of August 2026.
I don’t quilt all day every day, more like an hour or so here and there. But I don’t like to be rushed, and sometimes other projects take priority (like the allotment this year ❤️).
But here it is… completed and ready to be snuggled.

Wow… what a year.

I’m in full block production mode 😝
I’d like to get all the blocks made up and they can just stay hiding away until I’m ready to make up the quilt top. I really want to have a few tops lined up ready for winter hand quilting, as I find all the piecing hard to do in the depth of winter due to my chronic pain levels being worse. So if I have a few tops ready, I can prep them and just snuggle on the sofa in front of the fire, and gently hand quilt away. Seems strange to think of using the wood burner again, but it will creep upon us.
So… for now my dining table is covered in blocks at various stages of construction. There’s cotton thread ‘glitter’ everywhere, but there’s joy in my heart 🤩

A nice stroll this morning, ducking behind the road that passes through our village, and exploring the allotments, tracks and hidden nooks and crannies.
Still very dry everywhere, but very pretty 😍

This was a fun little project.
I made the much larger quilt a few months back and had a stack of blocks left over. If possible, I try to make ‘too’ many blocks (you can never have too many though, right?? 😉) so that when I sort out the final layout, I can have some flexibility, as inevitably they’ll be too many of one colour or style. So I like to make extra, but hate having lots of orphan blocks stashed. So I decided to put all these ones together to make whatever sized quilt came out the other end.
Surprisingly it turned out to be a very useable size.
Backed with some left over dusky pink fabric from another finished project, I’m pleased with the final look.
Super cuddly and with a lovely crinkly texture.
Yay for another finish 😊

These quilts are for using, loving, washing and enjoying 😊
I love every part of making a quilt….
⭐ choosing and cutting fabric
⭐ piecing, pressing and trimming
⭐ basting, hand quilting and binding
But there is something extra special when a quilt goes off to enjoy a new life somewhere else ❤️ and I get to make it a little reclaimed fabric bag.

Early morning views down the big garden. The sun is meant to shine hot and bright today, so we are outside doing necessary jobs before it gets too warm (basically it’s me watching Mr T stack the firewood that was delivered yesterday).
It’s lovely and cool with a gentle breeze.
The garden normally dries out by this time of year, but it’s especially dry this year. It’s been a strange year for weather, but at least we have enough firewood to keep warm if the winter is tough.
