First Palace diary edited (out of a series of three which lasted until 1982). Remarkable state of conservation despite a spiral binding. A true collector’s item, this diary offers a remarkable iconography of the famous nightclub founded in 1978 by Fabrice Emaer. We find there in particular : Thierry Mugler (who designed the outfits for the staff), Serge Gainsbourg, Rod Stewart, Yves Saint-Laurent, Jacques de Bascher, Edwige Belmore, Guy Cuevas, the sets of the Palace, Mick Jagger, Jerry Hall, Andrée Putman, Helmut Newton, the Bazooka collective, Kenzo, Village People, Kraftwerk, Talking Heads, The B 52’s, Andy Warhol… Very Rare.

The title of this book is actually used to tell us all the cultural history of the 80s without being limited to the New Wave period. Who better than Bizot, founder of Actual and Radio Nova, pioneer of the French Underground (not to say the Pope) could direct it? Here we are, embarking from Kraftwerk and the cold wave aesthetic to the shimmering colors of Keith Haring or the Memphis group. This book is remarkable because it gives a striking image of this culture as varied as that of this decade: the rock of Richard Hell, the drawings of Basquiat, the design of Starck, the hip-hop of Grand Master Flash, the young people of Blitz or Bains Douches, the funk of Prince, the coldness of Joy Division, the Goude Style… all illustrated with magnificent photographs, some of which come from essential magazines such as Blitz, Art News, Interview, Façade, Wet, The Face, Paper… A work of passionate people like Jean-François Bizot and the people who helped him write this book (Bernard Zekri, Patrick Eudeline, Léon Marcadet, Jean Rouzaud, Marc Voline…).

“The painted photographs of Pierre and Gilles, very colorful and sometimes described as “kitsch”, are famous. But an important part of their work was until now unknown to the general public: an exceptional set of photo booths, collected and put in order first by Gilles Blanchard alone then by Pierre and Gilles between 1968 and 1988. Autobiography in photo booths is a story told in the first person by Gilles Blanchard, in the form of captioned images, that of a shy teenager from Le Havre “gone” to Paris, who meets love in the person of Pierre Commoy. We meet everyone who matters in Paris in the 70s and 80s (Alain Pacadis, Edwige Belmore, Kenzo, Philippe Morillon, Maripol, Djemila Khelfa, Christian Louboutin, Eva Ionesco, Paquita Paquin…). The book ends when the “old” photo booth booths disappear at the same time as Paris changes and Pierre and Gilles find success. This autobiography in images, which constitutes the heart of the book, is preceded by a long interview with Pierre and Gilles, and followed by a gallery of portraits of the main actors in the film of the life of the famous duo.

David Godlis is a street photographer. He has been walking for 50 years in the streets of New York with his camera. Above all, he experienced the golden age of the punk-rock scene. “‘History is Made at Night” contains 119 black and white photographs. All taken between 1976 and 1979 around the CBGB in the Bowery. Without Flash with only the lights of the streetlights. So we find the heroes of those punk nights: Patti Smith, Richard Hell, the members of the Ramones, Talking heads, Television, the young Jim Jarmusch, and the crowd of strangers. It is a tribute to this emblematic and legendary place that was the CBGB club. We can see the interior of the room, the concerts, the queues in front of the front door, the atmosphere of those nights. A unique and certainly the most beautiful book covering this period.

Very nice collection of 15 original flyers for reggae concerts organized in the city of Cincinatti (Ohio). Most of these concerts take place in The Bogart’s concert hall. On the program for all these flyers: Burning Spear, Rita Marley & the I-Threes, The Wailers, Ziggy Marley, Marcia Griffiths, Judy Mowatt, Culture, Dennis Brown, Freddie McGregor, Black Uhuru, Uprising, Jimmy Cliff, Third World, Mighty Diamonds, Sly Dunbar & Robbie Shakespeare etc. Very nice collection in remarkable condition.
