GORGO & SUPER GIANT — ORIGINAL SPANISH CINEMA PRESSBOOKS

Two vintage Spanish promotional documents issued by Cire Films, featuring striking illustrated covers.

Gorgo — 1972 printing, with a giant monster attacking London. Fold-out pressbook containing a synopsis, credits, photographs and publicity material. Approximately 23 × 31 cm closed.

Superman el invencible — Spanish promotional material for the Japanese Super Giant films directed by Teruo Ishii, circa 1965–1966. Illustrated cover signed “Esc.”

These are cinema publicity documents with illustrated covers, rather than full-size theatrical posters.

Condition: age-related yellowing, light creases and edge wear. Gorgo also shows foxing and staining, particularly along the lower margin. Please examine all photographs.

IMPRIMERIE CAMIS — Henri-Gustave Jossot, 1897

Designed to advertise the Parisian printing firm Camis, this striking poster combines vivid colours, bold black outlines and monumental lettering.

Its slogan, “The largest format printed to date in a single sheet,” celebrates the printer’s technical achievements and large-format presses.

A remarkably modern composition from the golden age of French poster art. An example is held in the collections of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.

Sean Connery as 007 in one of the most striking Japanese Bond poster designs: his portrait framed within oversized “007” numerals, surrounded by scenes from the film.

An original 1964 Japanese first-release theatrical poster, not a reproduction.
B2 format: approximately 51 × 73 cm, excluding the linen border.

The poster will be cleaned, restored and linen-backed before dispatch. The central artwork is well preserved, with additional edge wear to be addressed during treatment.

What if Inception had been a Japanese monster movie from the 1970s? 🎬🇯🇵

Many thanks to Sławomir Wasiński and his page Wchłonięty przez Orient for sharing this reinterpretation and his thoughts on it.

That’s what I love about movie posters: they can tell a film’s story differently, surprise us, and make us want to find a place for them on our walls.

O reinterpretacjach i odmiennych wyobrażeniach filmu, albo gdy plakat jest piękniejszy niż dzieło filmowe.

Ostatnio trafiłem na wyjątkowy plakat do „Incepcji” (2010) Christophera Nolana. Jego autor pochodzi z Francji i prowadzi m.in. na Fb stronę Vintage Poster Hunter. Według słów autora „Incepcja” została tu zwizualizowana jako japoński film kaiju z lat 70.

Wygląda to niesamowicie ciekawie i przyznam, że to chyba jedyny plakat tego filmu Nolana, który nie tylko chciałbym mieć, ale który z chęcią powiesiłbym na ścianę.
