Hello all of Noel’s friends 🐾 A little update, as so many of you have been asking about him.

Not long ago, Noel was diagnosed with a mast cell tumour, which is one of the more common types of skin cancer in dogs. The scary thing is that it can look very innocent, sometimes just like an ordinary fatty lump, so it can be incredibly easy to overlook 😢

Thankfully, after further checks, Noel’s cancer had not spread and the tumour appeared to be localised to the side of his belly. We decided that surgery was the best treatment, so today Noel had the tumour removed along with quite a large area of surrounding skin.

He is now safely back home, tucked up in his cage and beginning his recovery🥹💚 He’ll be taking some well-deserved time off from his Highland Moss duties, but don’t worry, Angus has agreed to cover his shifts! 😂🐾

Noel has been the bravest boy throughout all of this and we’re so proud of him. We can’t wait until he is fully recovered and we can take him out for one of the lovely walks he enjoys so much.

We also wanted to use this opportunity to remind everyone to check your pets regularly for lumps and bumps. If we hadn’t decided to biopsy what looked like a harmless “fatty lump” we could very easily have missed it, especially as Noel had absolutely no other symptoms.

So give your dogs an extra cuddle tonight and have a little check while you’re at it💚🐶

A very special thank you to the wonderful person who decided to support a small local business… by reporting our little roadside sign to Aberdeen City Council 💪🏻 💚😂

For context, we’re the only shop on a residential street, so unless you’re actually coming to visit us, there’s a pretty slim chance you’ll just accidentally wander past Highland Moss 🗺️

Like most independent businesses, we don’t exactly have a multinational marketing budget. We thought a small, neat, cute sign pointing people towards our shop was a fairly harmless way of helping local customers find us 👀

Apparently, however, this tiny sign had such a devastating impact on somebody’s day that they generously gave up some of their precious free time to report it to the council ☮️✌️

We’re genuinely touched🥹 🙏

We employ local people, pay our taxes, bring customers into the area and do our best to keep an independent shop going in Aberdeen, so we’ll just have to get creative and think of another way to let people know where our happy little shop is 🙌🌿💚
