Great to see my piece of Dried flower artwork in pride of place at the LSC community art exhibition inside Gin on the Lane

Title: Changing seasons in a fragile world

Description:
Evolving seasonal patterns present unprecedented challenges for British agriculture. This year has been especially demanding for UK farmers and floriculturists working tirelessly to adapt to changing environments and sustain crop production

This artwork illustrates the shift from lush, green abundance—characterized by cool-toned florals and the promise of renewal—to intense, warm hues that reflect arid conditions, restricted growth, and the heightened risk of wildfires.

The central circle represents a reservoir of hope, through diversification, adaptation and technological innovation to help us overcome the challenges of the future.

Mechanics:
Made using a hazel twig frame bound with natural twine. A chicken wire base with dried flowers and foliage woven through the wire lattice.

Size: 50cm width x 53cm height

As we slowly nod towards Autumn we are welcomed with early misty mornings, changing colours of the leaves and thought of bringing nature indoors to celebrate the changing of the seasons.

Join me for my Dried flower wreath workshop with a nod to Autumn colours with rusty brackens, golden rich coloured flowers and textures from grasses and seedheads, all combined to give you a beautiful decoration to enjoy throughout Autumn and beyond!

Something exciting is happening...

And I'm stepping outside of my comfort zone...

To exhibit in an arts exhibition 😁

After getting in touch with Emma at the Let's SHAPE Our Creativity CIC when she posted an advertisement for local artists to exhibit at her art exhibition.
She was more than happy for me to display a framed piece of dried flower artwork ☺️

I'm in love with our natural seasons, and welcome each one and all that they may bring, yet I am also aware that our seasons are changing...so my thoughts turned to representing this notion through my dried flowers...

My artistic piece is titled...

'Changing seasons in a fragile world'

I have really enjoyed the process of trying to turn my idea into something that is both thought provoking but also beautiful in its own right... it's definitely stretched my creative brain...and it's always good to try something new, if not a little scary at times

Come along to scratch that creative itch, spending time slowing down and relaxing with like minded people

Do you love flowers? Have you used dried flowers before?

They're not what you might expect, lots of colour and texture to play with...it's a real treasure trove of not just flowers, but seed heads such as poppies, various architectural grasses and your own artistic brain...yes we all have one! It just needs a little coaxing out sometimes

So if you haven't been to one of my dried flower workshops before, you will leave with something beautiful I promise, and if you have this is something new to try.

Everyone will go home with a wonderful meadow box that you can display inside your home to be enjoyed for many years

I've been busy...it's the school holidays so time away with family has been my priority, a week in Devon and just returned from a week in the Lake District...

I came home to many flowers in bloom, despite the heat and lack of water!

Fortunately a lot of the flowers I grow for drying can stand the heat and don't mind a lack of water... although some rain anytime now would be great!!

I'll be bringing these flowers as well as many others along to my meadow box arrangement workshop on Sunday 13th September 1-3pm Wild Mint Café & Caffe Botanico - Golden Days Garden Centre Wigan

Here it is...after lots of people asking when I'm doing another workshop...well I've been wanting to do this particular workshop for a while now... really looking forward to teaching you all

Using all of my homegrown flowers lovingly dried, with a few extras foraged and donated...creating a treasure trove of goodies for you to choose from ☺️

This meadow box display will last for years kept in the optimal conditions, giving you a beautiful natural arrangement that can be displayed as a table centrepiece or why not decorate a sideboard or corner of your home to create a countryside vibe...

Attendees will have a set base of material to work with and then choose from the flower bar...where you can decide on your own style and colour scheme
