Latest guitar, picked up by customer, Kevin Phillips.

Had a couple of days off shop so I could get a good run at getting this build further on .
Pics show channel for rosette cut into top . Then glued and sanded flat .
Then , bracing begins. I'm using what I call engineered bracing. Making the braces in sections to form an upside down T . Ive used this method on classic guitars many years ago . Been itching to try it on a steel string. Fingers crossed it works . Only one way to find out .
To glue braces on top I use a go bar deck . Basically using the pressure of bent lengths of ply to apply pressure. Bed slats cut to length work great

So , started building a steel string for a client. Thought I'd share some of the construction process . First thing for me , rosette . Everything else is centered around this . This design uses wood veneer. 0.6 mm thick . To make the herringbone pattern the veneer is sliced in length then chopped in length. Then glued in sequence on a jig to make a rombus shape . I then slice the rhombus up into 2 mm slices , glue a backing venner then thickness down to around 1.2 mm . This is then cut in half glued together to make herringbone with spine between.
To assemble the parts , the lines are sprung fitted into the desired radius jig . Heat is used to bend the lines into shape then glued .
