πŸ›οΈ All Wales People First National Council Meeting

Yesterday Amy attended the All Wales People First National Council meeting in Swansea, with support from Ffion. 😊 The meeting started with everyone reviewing and agreeing the minutes from the previous National Council meeting. βœ”οΈοΈ Joe Powell then shared the Chief Executive's Report, giving members an update on the latest work and achievements across the organisation. πŸ“’

Members talked about Annual Health Checks and heard that some GP surgeries are still not offering them to people with learning disabilities. Joe is keeping a record of every time someone reports not being offered an Annual Health Check. This information will help show where improvements are needed. πŸ“ Tracey will also be meeting with Improvement Cymru and National Council members on Monday, 14 September 2026, to discuss ways to improve access to Annual Health Checks. 🀝

Members looked at applications from people who would like to become Board Members of All Wales People First. National Council representatives were asked to vote on the applications. βœ… The group also spent time discussing All Wales People First's Position Statements and shared their thoughts and views. πŸ’‘

The meeting ended on a positive note. Everyone had the opportunity to vote on how they felt the meeting had gone, and all National Council representatives said they enjoyed attending. πŸŽ‰

🎢🎀 Music Session Report 🎀🎢

What a fantastic music session we had today! 🌟 It was wonderful to see so many of our talented members singing a mix of much-loved old favourites and debuting songs we've never had at music before. πŸŽ΅πŸ’™

Our performers were brilliant:

🎀 Ffion and Amy had everyone singing along to "Something Inside So Strong" by Labi Siffre – a truly uplifting performance! πŸ™Œ
🎬 Rhys entertained us with a song from one of the Ernest films.
❀️️ Anthony performed the beautiful "On the Wings of Love" by Jeffrey Osborne.
🏍️ Helen gave an energetic and fun rendition of "Cool Rider" from Grease 2, which had everyone smiling!
🎸 Kyle impressed us with the Eagles classic "Hotel California".
😊 Curtis rounded things off with the feel-good anthem "I Love My Life" by Robbie Williams.

A huge thank you goes to Ffion and Amy for running another brilliant session πŸ‘, Christy for preparing our delicious pizzas πŸ•, and Cheryl for giving everyone such a warm welcome πŸ€—. Thanks also to everyone else who helps make these sessions such a success each week. πŸ’™

Our music group is so much more than singingβ€”it's a place where people can showcase their talents 🎀, build confidence 🌟, catch up with friends β˜•, enjoy a cuppa and a chat πŸ«–, and simply have fun together. ❀️️
