We are often asked what is the difference between Antiques, Collectables and Vintage.
We hope this helps

The difference primarily comes down to age and intent.

An antique is defined by being at least 100 years old, a vintage piece is typically 20 to 99 years old, and a collectible is any item valued by collectors, regardless of its age.

Antique Age:
Must be at least 100 years old.

Focus:
Exceptional craftsmanship, historical significance, and historical eras (e.g., Victorian or Georgian).

Value:
Often holds the highest financial value due to scarcity and historical importance, though market tastes can fluctuate.

Vintage Age:
Generally between 20 and 99 years old.

Focus:
Capturing the style, zeitgeist, and aesthetic of a specific decade or era (e.g., mid-century modern furniture or 1970s fashion).

Value: Driven largely by nostalgia and cultural relevance rather than just age.

Collectible Age:
Can be of any age—from brand-new to centuries old.

Focus:
Rarity, brand popularity, or a themed category (e.g., Pokémon cards, limited-edition vinyl records, or vintage toys).

Value:
Dictated entirely by demand and what a buyer is willing to pay.

Note: Antiques and vintage items can be collectibles, but not all collectibles are vintage or antique.
