It's so nice when I get to work away in a beautiful part of the country and this was definitely true for the last couple of days. I worked in two schools near Bradwell-on-Sea in Essex and as the sun was shining I went for lovely run along the coast.

I'll be posting a couple more images of the finished mosaics tomorrow, but for now, here is a picture of one of them.

Last couple of pictures from the summer and a little plea. 🙏

During the six week holidays I ran many different events and workshops, much of this was funded by the Great Childhood Ambition, which I was so pleased to be involved with.

This morning I visited Bolsterstone art group and worked with a lovely group of ladies. We weaved giant willow flowers and they turned out amazingly.

This is a great workshop for beginners and a taster for basket making as the centre of the flower uses a very similar technique.

On Saturday 12th December I have a Christmas willow weaving workshop at St John's Community Centre in Pen*stone, which still has some spaces left. All the details are pinned at the top of The Art Room's Facebook feed. Get in touch to book a place. 🌼

🎅 Christmas Willow Weaving Workshop -🌲

Join me for a festive and creative morning learning the beautiful craft of willow weaving. You will make your own Christmas willow decorations out of buff willow, before decorating them with twinkly lights and glittery bows.

✨️ What's included:
All materials, tools, decorating materials and plenty of guidance - no experience necessary. Plus, tea, coffee and a mince pie.

I've been experimenting with some different weaves in preparation for some new projects coming up. This willow trug was really fun to make and is such a strong basket. To incorporate the handle I used a God's eye weave for the sides.

A couple of pictures from Saturday, when I joined HOPE in Community Support Hub and The Carer’s Garden - Barnsley for their summer fayre. The weather was lovely and some of the most beautiful summer wreaths were made.

It was a great day and I met some lovely people.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and celebrated everything that these two amazing groups do here in Barnsley.
