Back at it yesterday……

Nice week off but now the hard work starts. Everyone’s season starts this weekend so good luck to everyone 💪

Yesterday i had Max and Holly in for a session before they play today.

Max has been struggling with an ongoing injury which has halted his goalkeeping for a while. It was my first time working with him and he was excellent.

We worked on getting his body and head over the ball when dealing with them horrible dippers right infront of you. We peeled it right back and after a few coaching points he got it straight away. Also worked on hitting the ground again so rather than doing it from a standing save we did it from his knees, making the impact on the floor much easier.

Well done Max and an absolute pleasure to work with.

Holly has a game today so it was just a feel good Friday session with her, like i would do for the pro’s on a Friday, plenty if hands and small movements. She plays her first game of season today Liverpool FC Academy

Good luck for the season Holly

Coach James putting 2 excellent goalkeepers through their paces.

Matty and Alfie growing into top young keepers, these 2 can go a long way in the game.

🚨 IT’S HERE 🚨

Big news for the over 12’s goalkeepers in Div 1 and 2 only.

I will be hosting elite sessions for the above on Fridays starting the 18th of September at Neston High School 4G.

These will be exclusively for high level goalkeepers from 12 years old to 15 years old both boys and girls.

As these sessions are exclusive, i will be limiting the numbers to 20. I do ask that you be honest of your goalkeepers ability as if they aren’t up to the level i will unfortunately have to give their space to someone else.

Dont worry, this is just the start, we will be offering much much more to all gk’s.

Please get in touch to hear more.

OPK 🧤⚽️ dusting off the cobwebs🕸️ before going back into training today with Liverpool FC Academy.

Amazing session with Oliver yesterday evening, again working on the fundamentals, nothing over the top as he hasn’t done much over the summer.

Ive seen this kid over the years now and his development and attitude is incredible.

This kid can play outfiled equally as good as his goalkeeping, which i tell all our young gk’s to do.

Good luck for the upcoming season Ol’ 💪

4 1:1’s yesterday, from Michael at 37 to Polly at just 8…

Really difficult to do much when the weather has been so tough on the grass these last few months so the basics were the name of the game yesterday.

So impressed with all the gk’s yesterday, all different ages and abilities.

Michael just wanted to tick over, plenty of footwork and handing. What an absolute gentleman and a really high level goalkeeper.

Next it was Holly. Wow 😮 What can i say, her footwork and handling is second to none 🔥 She is currently playing for Liverpool and i can see why. Again just a generic session, hands and feet. A few little coaching details added as you can hear but only for her to think about, nothing major.

Following Holly we had Polly.

Polly has been coming to our Monday sessions for a while now. As you can see we worked on her diving techniques. A very simple drill is to master it first from your knees, makes the impact on the ground a little easier. Young goalkeepers sometimes land on their back or stomach or often on their elbow.

Just trying to help Polly know that if she lands on her side with her elbows out from under her body it wont hurt. She got it perfectly by the end of the session.

Last but not least i had Mia.

Again Mia has been coming to our Monday sessions for years now and can honestly say she is one of the bravest gk’s ive worked with. Unfortunately my battery went on my phone so i have no videos of the session but again she was incredible. She loves goalkeeping and i gave her a few tips on trying to change her hand position slightly, making sure they work together.

Well done to all 4 of you in tough warm conditions 🥵

I find the goalkeepers get forgotten about while the team trains.

I will offer my services to come in and take 3-4 age groups at the time working on pure goalkeeping, all the cats together, having fun and working on the technical and tactical side of the game, along with shot stopping, distribution, crossing and much much more.

3 impressive 1:1’s today 🔥

Well done to Bea, Charlie and Khylain today in warm difficult conditions 🥵

Worked on the basics with all of them.

Bea playing at a high level with Stoke City. Very impressive today, handling and footwork on point.

Charlie looking to improve his hands and keeping his eyes on the ball all the way into his hands. Things don’t happen overnight so its just trying to drop some small details and direction every session.

Khylain is also playing at a good standard with his new team. Moves well and his hands are really impressive. I watched him play a few weeks ago and picked up a couple of things he can improve on, his starting position when the ball is down the other end of pitch being the most important, keeping engaged in the game.
