If you’re one of those people who says:

“I’m going to be organised this Christmas.”

…and then finds themselves surrounded by wrapping paper, scissors, tape and 17 oddly shaped presents at 11.47pm on Christmas Eve…

This is your sign. October is actually a really good time to start thinking about your Christmas wrapping.

Not because you need to have everything wrapped by Halloween, absolutely not!
But because you can make a plan before December arrives and the festive to-do list suddenly seems to have developed a life of its own.

You might have family gifts, Secret Santa presents, teacher gifts, client gifts, thank-yous and those awkwardly shaped things that make you question why manufacturers don’t think about the people who have to wrap their products.

That’s where I can help.

People sometimes imagine professional gift wrapping is simply a case of putting some paper around a box and adding a ribbon.

If only it were that simple! There’s actually quite a lot that goes on behind the scenes.

Choosing the right paper for the gift.
Working out how much paper is actually needed.
Matching ribbons, colours and textures.
Making sure the folds are neat.
And, my personal favourite… trying to stop the ribbon rolling all over the table and all over the floor!

I love the little details because they’re what turn a wrapped present into something that feels really thoughtful.

And now that we’re into October, I’m starting to think seriously about Christmas wrapping bookings.

October always feels like the month when things start getting a little cosier. The evenings are darker, the jumpers are back out and suddenly the diary seems to fill up with to-do lists and social events. And, dare I say it… some people are already talking to me about Christmas!

I’m actually rather pleased about this because getting organised early means you can enjoy the festive season without that last-minute “Where on earth am I going to find wrapping paper at 10pm?” panic. I’m loving hearing about your Christmas plans, and discussing how we can make the wrapping of your gift to suit the occasion, and, of course, the person receiving it.

I have a confession…

I genuinely get excited about beautiful wrapping paper.

There. I've said it.

Show me a gorgeous paper, an interesting texture, a beautiful ribbon or a lovely finishing detail and I'm happy.

But I know that not everyone feels quite the same way. For some people, wrapping presents is relaxing. For others, it's a necessary evil involving scissors, awkwardly shaped boxes and the inevitable moment when you've cut the paper just slightly too small!

And that's exactly why The Velvet Ribbon Wrapping Company exists.

I want professional gift wrapping to feel accessible, personal and effortless. Whether you've got one special present that deserves a little extra attention or several gifts you simply don't have the time (or inclination!) to wrap yourself.

Autumn has that lovely feeling of things starting to happen again.

Sunny but cool walks. Cosy evenings. Birthdays. Dinner parties. Celebrations. Events.

And, if you're anything like me, a growing list of things you need to organise!

One thing you can take off that list though, is......Gift wrapping.

You don't have to wait until the last minute, gather three rolls of paper from different cupboards and spend an hour trying to remember where you put the scissors.

You can simply bring your gifts to me and let me do the fiddly bit.

I love choosing the right paper, getting those corners neat, adding the ribbon and making sure the finished gift looks beautiful.

It's one of those little jobs that can take much longer than you expect… especially when the paper mysteriously refuses to cooperate.

A little gift-wrapping test for you…

When you finish wrapping a present, do you:

A) Admire your perfectly crisp corners and beautiful folds
B) Hope nobody notices the bit of paper you accidentally tore
C) Turn the present around so the wonky bit is at the back
D) Decide a gift bag is suddenly a much better idea

No judgement here!

Good wrapping is actually all about the little details, measuring the paper properly, creating neat folds, keeping the edges crisp and, my personal favourite, using double-sided tape so there’s no tape on show.

But if wrapping isn't your thing, that’s perfectly fine too, as that’s where I come in.

Whether you have one special gift or a pile of presents waiting for attention, I can take care of the wrapping and make everything look beautifully considered.

There’s something about September and October that makes me want to get organised.

Maybe it’s the evenings getting a bit darker, the return to routines… or the fact that suddenly I realise I have several birthdays, celebrations and events coming up and absolutely no idea what presents to get. (Although I do know how I'll wrap them!)

A Little Bit About Me...

One of my favourite things about The Velvet Ribbon Wrapping Company isn't actually the wrapping. It's the people.

Every gift that comes through my door has a story behind it.

A birthday.

A thank you.

A wedding.

A new baby.

A client who has gone above and beyond.

Someone saying, "I was thinking of you."

And I get to play a tiny part in that moment, which is something I genuinely love.

I also know that life is busy. Between running my businesses, family life and all the other things that somehow appear on the weekly to-do list, I completely understand the appeal of handing a job over to someone else.

You don't have to do everything yourself. Sometimes outsourcing one small job can make a surprisingly big difference.
