In 2027 and 2028, Road Song Books is planning to release a two-part anthology.

The first will be for fiction writers, the second will be for non-fiction writers.

The working title is: WHAT YOU ARE, I ONCE WAS / WHAT I AM, YOU WILL BECOME

We are putting a toe in the water and asking for short story submissions that fit our theme: 'Things we've lost and gained from growing older/leaving childhood behind'.

For volume 1, we are looking for short stories, song lyrics, and poems with a max of 3000 words.

To qualify for entry, please purchase one of our books from www.roadsongbooks.com or send proof a copy of a library withdrawal to us via our /contact-us page. If purchasing a book, please attach a screenshot of your receipt along with your full manuscript. No exceptions.

UK-based writers from all backgrounds - underrepresented talent encouraged. Quality over box ticking.

Deadline for short stories is to be at bedtime, 31 August 2026.

ANNOUNCEMENT. Because it is the Solstice, we are keen to let you know our fourth book is due at the end of July.

The Longest Day by Lisa Williams is set on the Summer Solstice in 2019 It's a superb novella told in a Lyrical and offbeat way that works a treat. Its set in the heart of Leicester in a residential tower block, centring around the shared fate of its inhabitants over the course of 24hrs of that day when the sun hangs around a little bit longer.

Release date: Not long now.

A future project is to draw in writers for a short story anthology. The 'theme' is to be decided - but verse and song lyrics will be invited in too.

Submission guidelines, word counts and deadlines will be announced in the coming months.

We will be inviting established writers, public figures and debut authors into the mix.

Please get your pens wet and your brains creating.

And as ever, k**b heads - jog on, try your luck elsewhere. Zero apologies for this.
