This particular flute has closed holes, an offset G and a C-foot. It is in beautiful condition with no dents and no obvious marks, the silver is polished. The used pads remain in excellent shape, so we did not replace them. We have thoroughly stripped, cleaned, and serviced the mechanism. Additionally, this flute includes an Altus hard case which is has a worn cloth style exterior but is otherwise undamaged.

For sale is a Garner silver headjoint with 14K extended riser and 14K power bands. Garner is the previous name for the Geoghegan Flute Company

Michael Geoghegan was part of the Boston Handmade Flute industry. Initially working as a repairer, he worked with Powell as a finisher and opened his own flute company in 1980. Being innovative, Michael pushed the boundaries and experimented with different sounds and metals, using Niobium, Gold, Silver and Tantalum. He designed power bands which wrapped the tube on either side of the lip to enhance resonance.

This particular flute headjoint is made from Sterling silver with a solid silver crown, 14K extended rose gold riser and 14K rose gold power bands. It has a powerful sound with excellent projection and really sings at the upper register and has a darker, warmer sound in the low register.

These are not easy to find headjoints and this is a lovely headjoint in excellent overall condition. There are no dents and minimal tarnish in hard to reach areas.

A very rare Albert Cooper solid silver headjoint is now up for sale from 1980.

Albert Cooper, a British maker, left Rudall Carte in 1959 and subsequently set up his workshop in a shed at the end of his garden. By using traditional tools, he ultimately became one of the world’s most famous makers of headjoints and flutes.

When he passed away in 2011, he left behind a small but lasting legacy of beautifully constructed flutes and headjoints. Consequently, these instruments are highly coveted and, in most cases, very rarely appear on the market. Furthermore, he collaborated with Brannen Brothers, William Bennett, and Elmer Cole to develop the renowned 'Cooper Scale'. This headjoint was made in 1980 and condition is very good with some very small marks. The headjoint cork has also been replaced.

Here is a rare opportunity to purchase a beautiful used Philipp Hammig 658/2 wooden flute with two headjoints.

The Philipp Hammig brand, renowned since 1780 for crafting fine flutes and piccolos, carries a rich tradition. Originally honed by Philipp Hammig in his father’s workshop, his skills were further developed at the Berlin firm Ritterhausen. Subsequently, Philipp returned to Markneukirchen, and in 1959, Gerhard Hammig, Philipp’s son, took over the family business. The instruments continued under the "Philipp Hammig" name, with the tradition eventually passing to Gerhard’s four children in 1994.

This flute, crafted from seasoned Grenadilla wood, features open holes, an offset G, a split E, and nickel silver keys. The silver-plated keys with pointed arms and a C-footjoint complete the design. The flute has undergone complete servicing, with well-seated pads in good condition and two headjoints. One headjoint has a reform lip and a squarer embouchure and has a focused sound with power. The other headjoint has a more classic embouchure that is slimmer and therefore produces a softer sound. Both headjoints are original Hammig heads and this gives the player options for different playing styles and music choices.

Thus, this professional flute from one of the world’s top makers is ideal for orchestral, jazz, or folk music.
