Monumental gateways, cathedral-like auditoriums, structures that sweep, intimidate and inspire - there’s quite a few otherworldly locations in my patchwork city. I’m building up a set of illustrations of them. Here’s the iconic Spaghetti Junction, the underneath, a place which causes my heart to beat hard and quick, it feels dangerous yet spiritual, a place to enter another realm, a place to battle and pray as one crosses into the dark unknown (Erdington).

Part of a little series I’m working on to get me back in to my groove. The idea was to work on three pieces based on the three stages of love; lust, attraction, and attachment. The first needs a bit more work but I’ll put it up at some point, this one is the second (attraction), I’ve not started the third yet. Incorporating the language of flowers, suggestive imagery and clashing colours, I wanted to represent those chaotic and charged instances when we’re head over heels and our rationality is usurped by longing and obsession.

I’m delighted to announce that next weekend I am hosting a q***r botanical drawing workshop

This is part of A Dash of Lavender: Celebrating LGBTQ+ history month with ***rbotany who has curated a fascinating series of events and installations around the gardens - so definitely worth a visit even if you can’t make the Sunday.
This workshop will have a focus on q***rness and finding inspiration in nature. This will be a slightly different approach to botanical drawing, based more in the meditative and expressive quality of drawing than a scientific approach. Working in pen and ink, we will warm-up with some brief drawing exercises followed by a longer session. All materials provided but you’re more than welcome to bring your own.

I did a statue for the touring public arts instillation raising money for NHS charities. Currently displaying in my hometown of Birmingham, it later be touring the statues to Manchester, Edinburgh and finally London where each will be auctioned off.
My one is called ‘Super Stars’ and consists of key workers forming a human pyramid of support and strength. Many thanks to for sponsoring me!

This is a mural I’ve just completed for - Birmingham’s oldest running lgbtq+ nightclub and music venue (50 years!!).
It’s a place dear to my heart, having spent many a fun evening here, forming and cementing strong friendships, finding myself and my place within the Lgbtq+ community .
It is a space that where q***r people and their allies can come from all over to congregate in a safe and accepting environment, with inclusivity and love for all at its heart.

These venues are especially important in offering respite to those who do not have the freedom to publicly express their true selves or connect with like minded people. It‘s easy to take it for granted that these spaces will always exist but after losing so many others in the fallout from Covid-19, and the rise in hate crimes following Brexit and constant media attacks on our trans community, it has never been more important to support our local q***r businesses .

For the artwork I looked at q***r botany, how certain flowers have been associated with lgbt groups. Amongst these are proud, unashamedly naked figures covered in tattoos alluding to q***r subgroups, histories and culture. Quotes and slogans adorn the imagery to reinforce the themes of inclusion, self-acceptance, body positivity and the power of q***rness.

In the summer, locked up with cancelled jobs and time to kill, I completed a high street illustration for my local area in Birmingham. There was then (and still is) a lot of anti-trans rhetoric in the media which is revolting, needlessly cruel, uninformed and relentless. The high street in question is in an area that had also been in the news for anti-LGBTQ+ protests outside primary schools over the No Outsiders schools program.
As way of a quiet protest I have donated 15% from each sale to - a wonderful charity that supports trans youth.
I did not make loads of sales but I have raised almost £200 for the charity and have decided that all artworks and prints I sell from now on will have 15% donation to a relevant charity.*

This print above is of the late Birmingham Central Library - a building I adored and have very fond memories of. Just before its’ destruction I spent a grey, rainy day photographing it from every angle. This is my favourite of the series, which is available to purchase in my shop (link in bio), 15% going to

Along with fellow Anna, we designed and painted big artworks to sit inside the recently installed parklets on Colmore Row, commissioned by

The artwork is site specific, being next to ‘Pigeon Park’ in Birmingham and incorporating stylised shapes, patterns and forms representative of the surrounding architectural styles and outdoor furniture. We wanted the piece to be eye catching from the other side of the square, with the large pigeon forms tying it all together.
Being in lockdown, the parklets are a way that neighbouring businesses, such as and could sit their customers without breaking restrictions.
