My haul from today 🥔 🫛 & 🍅 I brought some tomato seeds back from Santorini tomato museum & thought I’d try them out this year, every single seed took and I’ve a greenhouse full of them! Blummin brilliant 🥰

Dont’cha just love nature! Poppies primarily spread through self-seeding, utilizing dry seed pods that develop small pore "windows" near the top. As the wind blows or animals brush against the tall stems, the mature pods sway and act like pepper shakers, scattering thousands of tiny seeds across the surrounding soil

Even the caterpillars are black & yellow here! Cinnabar moth, hope I get to see it in flight 😍

These caterpillars are well known because:

* They feed almost exclusively on common ragwort and related plants.
* They store the ragwort’s toxic chemicals in their bodies, making them distasteful to birds. Their bright black-and-orange stripes are a warning coloration.
* They eventually pupate in the soil and emerge as striking black-and-red Cinnabar moths.
