A Friday morning mooch into Alton, a completely spontaneous walk-in haircut and a conversation I wasn’t expecting.
While waiting for my trim, I got chatting to the sweetest lady who grew up in the very village where I now live. She went to the little village school, then the Alton school now known as Amery, apparently the only local secondary school around back then.
She had stories. Lots of them. About the village, growing up, school and what life was like here all those years ago. The kind of local history you won’t find on a blue plaque.
£27 later, I walked out with a blunt bob and a slightly better understanding of the place I call home.
Really loved this little hairdressers too - The Cutting Bar. Proper community feel, friendly faces and conversations with strangers that somehow make your morning.
A very good Friday mooch. ✂️🤍
