Two days in Birmingham for the BAMAN Annual Conference ✨

After an early morning yoga class to start my day 💪🏼 I enjoyed a brilliant couple of days learning, listening and catching up with other medical aesthetic nurses.

From the latest thinking around toxins, skin quality and microneedling to anatomy, consent, complications and the future of medical aesthetics, there was so much packed into the two days. 💉

Even after 15 years in aesthetics, I think it’s so important to keep learning and updating so I can continue to offer you the very best in this ever evolving industry. 💕

So excited to introduce what I've learnt! Xx

Sometimes you know exactly what you want. Sometimes you just know you look tired, or feel you’ve aged quite suddenly. And quite often, you’ll point to something you think needs treating when I’d actually suggest something completely different.

That’s why I never want an appointment to feel like choosing a treatment from a menu.

Lip filler has a bit of an image problem… 👄

Almost every day I have women sitting in my clinic telling me they don't like the way their lips and mouth have changed with age, but they’re nervous about taking the plunge with filler.
Not necessarily because they’re worried about the treatment itself, but because they’re frightened of looking “done”.

The truth is that when lip filler is done well, nobody needs to know you’ve had it.

It doesn’t have to mean dramatically bigger lips. For many of the women I treat, it’s about replacing a little of what time has naturally taken away, restoring subtle volume and definition, and softening lines.

There’s also something else that reassures a lot of nervous first-timers: hyaluronic acid lip filler can be dissolved if necessary. It’s extremely rare that I need to do this in my own clinic, but knowing that treatment is reversible can make the first appointment feel a lot less daunting.

Every pair of lips in this post is a real result from my clinic (apart from the front cover!). Different ages, different lips, different reasons for treatment, but the same aim: to enhance what’s already there, not create a completely different pair of lips.
One of the most common things I hear afterwards is that friends and family have said “You look really well” but can’t quite put their finger on what’s changed.

Because lip filler really can be that undetectable when it’s done well. 🩵

Have you watched Olivia Attwood’s Price of Perfection Series 3 yet? 👀

As an Aesthetic Nurse with over 15 years in the industry, I’ve found it fascinating. As well as the treatments themselves, I love seeing the reasons people seek them, the influence of social media and how our perception of what looks “normal” can gradually shift.💉

I’m a huge advocate for aesthetic treatments (it is my job after all! 😉). I’ve seen first-hand how subtle, well-considered treatment can make a real difference to someone’s confidence. But I also strongly believe that there comes a point where more isn’t necessarily better.

We’re all going to age. We’ll develop lines, lose volume and see changes in our faces over time - and that’s completely normal. Personally, I’d much rather see some signs of ageing than an over-treated face that no longer looks like the person it belongs to.

If you haven’t watched Olivia Attwood: The Price of Perfection, I highly recommend it - it’s definitely worth a watch! 📺
