The sunshine isn’t just outside… Team Helios is shining too! 😎☀️

This week, I’m celebrating the amazing Charlotte from Mrs Spoons Book Adventures. 📚💛

Charlotte only joined Team Helios back in February, but wow… she’s absolutely flown! 🚀

She grabs every opportunity that comes her way, filling her diary with local stalls and getting books into as many children’s hands as possible. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and she’s already become such a wonderful support to other members of the team.

I honestly think Charlotte is going to make a fantastic mentor, and I don’t think we’ll be waiting too long for that! 🤩

One of my favourite moments recently was being able to nominate Charlotte for a place at our in-person Leadership Training… and she won! 🎉

I genuinely can’t wait to finally meet her in person. We chat all the time, but FaceTime just isn’t the same! I know she’s going to get so much from those two days, and I’m even more excited to see her come home full of ideas and put everything she’s learned into growing her amazing business.

Charlotte, I’m so proud of everything you’ve achieved already, and I know this is only the beginning. The future is looking incredibly bright! ☀️💛

🤡 Reality: Me repeatedly fluffing up trying to show off a book… while Carron wandered off because the books were just too pretty to ignore. 📚😂

Safe to say the bloopers won.

We’re clearly not winning Oscars anytime soon… but we do have the best laughs, the best people, and the most incredible community. ❤️

Honestly… why wouldn’t you want to join a team like this? 😉

Does your child suddenly become the busiest person in the house the moment you say, “It’s time to read?” 😅

One more drink.

One more snack.

One more trip to the toilet.

One more toy they’ve somehow just remembered…

It’s easy to think they’re being stubborn, but often that’s not what’s happening.

Starting something that feels difficult is the hardest part. Once children get going, their brain settles into the task and it starts to feel much easier.

That’s why a simple change in how you ask can make such a big difference.

📚 Instead of saying, “Read for 20 minutes,” try saying, “Let’s read for just 5.”

Five minutes feels achievable, takes away the pressure, and more often than not, children choose to keep going once they’ve started.

Small wins build confidence. Confidence builds readers.

This holiday I have taken my girls to work a few times this time……

One of them completely abandoned me to help the Little City team set up. 😂 She was in her element carrying equipment, getting everything ready and generally making herself indispensable.

The other?

She claimed the space under my book stall as her new home and stayed there for most of the event. 🤣

It’s a pretty accurate description of parenting really… one child is off being everyone’s favourite helper, while the other is living her best goblin life under a table. 😂

And honestly? I wouldn’t swap it.

One of my favourite things about my bookshop is that my girls get to be part of it. They gain confidence, learn new skills, meet lovely people and make memories with me along the way.

When your team is named after the Greek god of the sun, you’ve got to expect a little bit of shining… and Team Helios is absolutely beaming right now! 😎☀️

This week, it’s all about the wonderful Emma from Little Boots Bookstore. 📚💛

Emma is honestly incredible. She built her Usborne business around family life and a part-time teaching job, and through lots of hard work and determination, she’s recently been able to make her book business her full-time adventure! 🤩

Not only that, she’s also promoted to Team Leader, and I couldn’t be prouder. Watching someone grow in confidence, achieve goals they once only dreamed about, and then begin supporting a team of their own is one of the best parts of what I do.

Emma, you’ve worked so hard for this, and I can’t wait to watch you and your team flourish. 🌻
