A little close up of a section on my final piece. With only just over 2 weeks left, I'm trying to find as much time as possible to spend on it!

Can you guess what type of jewellery it is?

Term 3, Week 3

This week we worked with cast settings (pre-made stone settings), soldering them together before setting the gemstones.

I found this project quite challenging, especially the faceted pear-shaped stone, as it was my first time setting one. I did really enjoy setting the two smaller gemstones on either side though!

The cast settings took some getting used to as the metal was very soft and easy to distort. Despite being wonky, I'm pretty happy with how the ring turned out and what I learned from the process.

It’s been a while! Term 3 at is coming to an end, and we’re already starting to plan our final project!

I’m keeping that one under wraps for now, but I will say… it’s going to be snakey 🐍

I’ve just finished setting this teal tourmaline in my week 4 granulation project for term 3. It still needs its final polish, but I’m already obsessed with it!

I’ll be reluctantly putting it away for marking before I can finally wear it - this one’s definitely a keeper.

Week one, term three at

I can’t quite believe we’ve reached the last term already. Such a lovely way to start it too, with chain making.

I’ve been enjoying creating little snakes in my jewellery lately, so I couldn’t resist adding them into this bracelet. The S hook clasp is shaped like a snake, set with a citrine, and there’s a small hidden one tucked into the links as well.

Still lots of finishing and polishing to do, and the stone needs setting, but it’s getting there.

A little glimpse at how my cabin studio is coming along, I feel so lucky to have this space to be creative in.

My plan (hopefully for later on in the year) is to have bench space on the other side for 3 or 4 people, so that I can start teaching jewellery classes 🌟

Here’s my finished silver trinket box for weeks 6 & 7 ✨

This one’s on a much bigger scale than I’m used to. The outside is finished, and I’m hoping to refine the inside a bit more if I can find the time before hand-in!
