❤ Lovers & Purveyors of Fabric ❤
Overseeing all things from our Brighton Laines shop is Päivi Salo - a professional costumier and fabric retailer with over 20 years in the industry. We are here to make the start of your sewing journey as enjoyable as possible, and that is why we have our mission statement of offering honest prices with the best possible service, and our online service gives you Same Day Dispatch, no minimum orders and fair postage. Introducing Päivi…

After managing fabrics shops in London for over a decade, Päivi followed her love of designing and making and went on to study Costume for Theatre & Film, gaining a BA Hons. Since graduating, she has worked in the industry as a Freelance Maker & Wardrobe Supervisor for The Royal Opera House, Kylie Minogue, Rambert as well as events such such the National Television Awards and Prince Charles’ 50 Year Investiture Gala at Buckingham Palace. Her career was flying high until the pandemic hit and the theatres closed. It was then that she decided to turn this negative into a positive and started Cloth Control, and with the nations new found love of sewing this new venture was a raging success. Now two years later we are delighted to say Cloth Control has now opened its first high street shop on Brighton famous North Laines. So whether you are shopping online, visiting or living in Brighton, do pop in a say hi.

Keys to shop no3. Cloth Control is expanding to Bournemouth 🤩

I feel very emotional having my old boss from 25 years ago witness the signing of the lease. This man gave me a chance to run one of his north London shops when I was only 20 - fresh in the UK with very limited language skills. When I opened my first shop 4 years ago, he said to me “You’ll be ok, you’re a grafter” and here I am now wondering if I can call Cloth Control a chain yet?!

All clothing in the window is made from Cloth Control fabrics by yours truly, and a special thank you goes to my right hand gal for the crochet scrunchie and the incredibly talented weaver from 🇫🇮 Mirja Pakkanen for the scarf. Hand made is luxury ❤️
