🌾Christmas Wreath Workshops 🌾

We can now confirm the second festive willow wreath workshop John O'Groats Mill

This workshop will be slightly different from the other festive workshop. We will still be making willow wreaths but will be also using bere barley to decorate them. This barley will be what the mill are using but we will have dried it. You will also have the option to add other dried flowers and pine cones etc.
I will post pictures of an example once the bere barley has been harvested later in the year.

If you'd like to reserve a place please get in touch.

The workshop will be three hours long.

The extra special thing about these wreaths is that after Christmas you can either pop it away for next year or remove the decorations and use the willow wreath to decorate all year round with seasonal dried flowers.

Cost of this workshop is £55.
A deposit of £10 is required on booking, and the remaining balance is due 4 weeks before the workshop.

We had a great day in Dunnet Community Forest today making bird feeders. A beautiful morning and rainy afternoon (typical Caithness weather) but despite the rain everyone went home with at least two bird feeders each and the skills to make more at home.

The blue tit's and a Robin were seen enjoying one of our feeders that we left near the log cabin. So if you are out and about in the forest take a look.

Unfortunately we only had time to take pictures from this mornings quieter session.

We will be back again at the forest in the winter for a festive workshop. Hope to see you then.

In the meantime if you fancy a workshop please have a look at the pinned post 'workshop availability' or look on the website.

Thank you 😊

Stannergill Scarf

We were so pleased when asked to design a scarf for Stannergill Whisky distillery last year.

The building is beautiful and therefore we wanted to capture this and the still that is picture framed by a large black window.

This scarf is exclusive to the distillery and handwoven using locally sourced pure wool as well as Shetland wool. Please get in touch with the distillery directly to order.

John o’Groats Mill

It was so lovely to be asked last year to design a landscape scarf for the John O'Groats Mill The colours and textures of the mill are vast and I wanted to reflect this in the design of the scarf. I have therefore used a mixture of pure wools and thicknesses. Wools used include Scottish merino, Shetland, Scottish Lambswool, and a Lambswool and cotton mix.

The colours that stood out to me were the distinctive red from the windows, the white lime render, the mixed stone colours of cream and brown.

It’s a beautiful building and we are so lucky to have this building to visit and see locally.

The scarf is exclusive to the mill and therefore can only be purchased there.

To order contact:[email protected] or visit the mill John O’Groats, KW1 4YR open 10-5 every day apart from Wednesdays. Last entry 4pm.
