A little trip down memory lane, and a photo that really shows how far we’ve come in just a few years. 🌱
This was our very first market stall, testing the idea at a spiritual and wellbeing event in Merthyr.
We made around £300 that day, which paid back most of the initial grant we’d had from The King’s Trust to test the market.
Back then we were Joe’s Houseplants, complete with a clip-art logo and absolutely no idea where this was going 😂
Tomorrow, I’m heading up to Ideas Fest as the Welsh winner of Consumer Product of the Year, competing against some brilliant businesses for the national title and hopefully bringing it home to Wales. 🏆🏴
It’s good to look back at moments like this. A hobby became a passion, the passion became an idea, and eventually that idea became a business.
Over the next few days we’ll be meeting other entrepreneurs who have been on their own journeys too. Running a business can be a lonely place at times, so I’m looking forward to being around people who understand the highs, lows and everything in between.
We’ll also be on stage at Ideas Fest (still slightly unbelievable) talking about our journey, what we’ve built so far and what we hope to achieve over the next few years with Joe’s Plant Place and Grow with Joe.
If you’ve got an idea for a business or project but you’re worried about taking that first step, this photo is probably the best advice I can give.
We started with a market stall.
You don’t need to have everything figured out. Start small, test the idea and see where it takes you.
Having supportive people around you makes a massive difference too. I definitely wouldn’t have got this far without mine.
Anyway, tomorrow we’re off to see just how much further we can take it. 🌱🏆
