Hello again! There's been a few more followers joining my page recently, so I thought I would do a little post about me, my art, and what I get up to in my spare, or not so spare, time.

My family on holiday in France! We love exploring a castle, and Carcasonne has to be one of the best.

Silly dog can't help herself.

Moth and moon patches sewn onto a denim jacket. One of my favourite garments.

The horses that became my Halloween Kelpies.

Coffee and frog sketching in the sunshine - what more could you ask for?

My kids are also very keen artists too which is helpful as it means sometimes they let me get on with my drawing!

I wanted to design something a little unusual for Halloween this year. As much as I love witches and ghouls, I wanted to create something that felt a bit more deeply rooted in the folklore that I find so fascinating.

My husband Mat was the one that really came up with the idea. He's the storyteller in our family, so when I told him I was thinking about doing a different kind of Halloween design, he started researching Celtic myths and legends and came across the stories of the kelpies.

I love drawing horses so this tale of the macabre horses that sometimes help humans but also sometimes drown them felt like an enticing choice. Mat even started to write a story about them, and this creepy version of a folk legend about shapeshifting beings appealed to me so much I wanted to paint these ghostly, watery beasts. So these painted versions are the concept behind my limited edition illlustrated stationery set.

What do you know about the legends of the kelpies? And what other unusual Halloween or spooky legends do you like?

With a thunder storm finally brewing, it's time to talk about this stationery set. These mythical kelpies in a stormy black sea come on 160gsm handmade cotton rag paper, with thick black envelopes and silver and gold wax seals. It comes in a black stringer and washer envelope.

I've only made 10 sets. That's it.

They'll be going live on September 1st at 8pm UK time.

Almost in time for the solar eclipse! A new edition to my shop, the celestial sun and moon wax seals. These are perfect for adding a bit of luxury to your letters, cards or any other stationery (or if you're my children, perfect for storing in pockets to be later found in the washing machine by me! (Don't worry, they made their own - the ones on the photos don't come prewashed!))....anyway! They also go perfectly with my sun and birds summer stationery set. Which is perfect for hiding from the current heat wave to write letters about the sun to people you love but can't see because it's too hot to go outside.....

And I apologise now for my rambling post, it's currently 36 degrees and my brain is melting out my ears.

Yet another heatwave felt like the perfect time to give this blazing sun design a home of the grid.

I've seen a lot of posts about writing letters recently and the simple joy it brings. It's really made me realise how long it's been since I received something handwritten in the post.

Do you write or receive hand written post?

In our family we don't put the kids in any childcare over the summer holidays, I just work around them. And I wing it, daily. I'm always in awe of how other families juggle everything and plan everything meticulously.

Please enjoy some audio of the soundtrack I got to enjoy during breakfast. You're welcome ๐Ÿ˜

A little before and after of making this t-shirt into an active participant in my wardrobe

I got this plain black sleeveless Levi's t-shirt a while back. I thought it would be a useful staple. But it just didn't work and I never found myself wearing it.

I feel guilty enough buying fast fashion so I wasn't up for having it languish in a drawer. So on a whim I decided to add some patches to the shoulders

I was really lazy, I didn't do anything to make sure they sat well, just lined up the head and tail on the shoulder seem and sewed them straight on. I did a quick running stitch around the edge of the felt and figured if it didn't look right I could just whip them off and try something else

I leave a small edge of felt on all my patches when I make them. It can be trimmed off really easily for a crisper edge but sometimes it's handy or sometimes it works better to fold it under. I left it in place here but I might trim it later.

I absolutely love the result and even better, it only took about 30 minutes of sewing in front of the TV to completely transform it.

Here's a little close up....

I used a different colour on each shoulder but they both have a similar tone.

In amongst the rush of end of term and melting in the seemingly never ending heat waves. I've been chipping away at this new stationery design.

It's inspired by cool summer nights, with moon flowers and ferns. So it's worked out perfectly that it's finished now

As always with my letter writing sets, it's made with recycled materials.

The paper is thick enough not to bleed or see ink through, even with a calligraphy or fountain pen.

And the print detail is designed to mimic the pen and ink illustration it came from.

I'll have this one available by the end of next week, just in time for a summer holiday treat for yourself. Maybe a quiet evening writing in the garden after the sun's finally calmed down for the day?
