Roger is here with his top tips for keeping your garden plants happy in this hot weather ☀️🌿🌸

1.Group planted containers together, they can shelter each other

2.Move planted pots into a slightly shaded area if possible

3.Place planted pots into saucers to collect water run-off, to be soaked up later by the plants

4.Avoid watering in the midday sun, if possible, watering in early morning / late evening is preferable

5.Use composts (Such as Westland Boost compost for containers) with added wetting agents to help; draw the water into the compost and reduce water run-off

6.If there is space at the top of the pot add a layer of compost or bark as a mulch to hold in extra moisture

7.Try to add water while the compost is still slightly damp as damp compost absorbs water whereas dry composts can repel water – ‘little and often’ is a good approach

These neat and colourful evergreen shrubs are ideal for a sunny spot in the garden. They keep the garden looking pretty with their bright summer flowers and year-round foliage, and our little buzzy friends love them too.

The compact variety work really well in pots and containers or even as border edgings, adding interest even as the season changes.
