When Jess first came to me, she already had a really clear feeling for how she wanted her wedding to look.

Not necessarily a list of exact flowers or a Pinterest-perfect blueprint — more an overall aesthetic, a feeling, a vision of how she wanted it all to come together.

And then, YEARS later, we finally got to stand inside that vision at Townhead Estate and make it real for her and Luke.

There’s something really special about this part of the job. You spend all that time talking things through, changing bits, making decisions, second-guessing things, making them again… and then suddenly you’re standing there looking at the finished ceremony thinking, oh. THIS is what we were talking about.

And I think that’s one of my favourite things about wedding flowers.

It isn’t just about making something pretty on the day. It’s taking the things you’ve been imagining in your head for months and turning them into something you can actually walk towards, stand amongst and remember forever.

Ever looked at a wedding flower quote and thought…

“Surely my florist is ripping me off?!” 👀

I completely understand why you might think that.

You see a bouquet or centrepiece full of beautiful flowers and it’s easy to assume that flowers themselves can’t possibly cost that much.

But some of the flowers you’re seeing EVERYWHERE right now are surprisingly expensive to buy — especially when you’re using premium varieties like hydrangeas, delphiniums, anthuriums, calla lilies and orchids.

And as you’ve seen in this post, the cost of those individual stems can add up very, very quickly.

But — and this is important — not all flowers are this expensive.

There are SO many beautiful flowers available at much lower price points, and a good florist will be able to work with you to create the look you love while being mindful of your budget.

It’s also why two weddings with a very similar-looking Pinterest aesthetic can have completely different flower budgets. The varieties, quantities, season, availability and scale all make a difference.

So if you’ve received a quote that’s higher than you expected, it doesn’t automatically mean your florist is ripping you off.

Sometimes…

A happy accident 💕

I genuinely didn’t realise I’d done this until I looked back through the videos afterwards 😂

This was Lauren’s bridal bouquet for her and Jamie’s wedding at in the Lake District last week — and honestly, it was such a gorgeous one.

Packed full of roses,dahlias, zinnias, cosmos, scabious and rudbeckia in the prettiest mix of pink, peach and coral tones. Romantic, colourful and a little bit wild — basically everything I love about a summer wedding bouquet (although, I did chop that rogue dangling cosmos before dropping it off with her.)

And apparently… my subconscious thought it needed a tiny heart in there too 💗
