Those who know me personally know about my daughter Maisie. She used to attend a mainstream primary school but through her difficulties/disabilities ended up at a more specialist school to suit her needs. It has been a really tough 4 years and our relationship has been through the mill and back again numerous times, but we are now on a positive road together. I used to be self-employed but due to
the amount of meetings, hospital appointments and long waiting lists, Maisie needed me to be around more and i couldn't keep my business going at the same time. Maisie has always felt responsible, so now that Maisie is settled in school and has her diagnosis, I decided to start a pop-up business. I have always wanted to try and show Maisie that just because something didn't work out before as the timing wasn't right, it doesn't mean it can't be the right time now. This is a business that Maisie and I will be doing together. I want to show her that even though she has a diagnosis, it doesn't mean that she can't do something herself. I aim to teach Maisie the skills and show her the basics of running a business. I want her to feel part of something that is just ours. For her to feel and see that with hard work, time and patience anything is achievable as long as you stick at it and try. This weekend she has spent all of her free time completing stock checks, pricing and tagging ready for the Christmas period. We are attending Christmas fayres all over the vale and we have this page for people to browse through stock and take orders. Maisie is in charge of social media advertising, fingers crossed people start to place more orders. I couldn't be prouder of Maisie, she has taken on this task and got stuck straight into it. Watching her work and be interested in a project that she can call her own. I want her to know that it doesn't matter if you struggle or if you don't find things as easy as others. If you believe you can do something its only you can that make it happen in your own way. Thank you for reading our story
