I saw a host of angels once (true story) and I still managed to argue atheism with my late father, who wisely smiled and refused to challenge his own faith.

We used to talk about philosophy and religion, also history, language, mathematics and cosmology. He painted, whittled wood, played guitar. He wrote poetry in his shed, sang songs to himself while robins nestled in his fragrant wood shavings.

My dad died in 2021 during lockdown, aged 80. We visited him in hospital wearing our facemasks, communicated our love for him with our eyes.

This painting is about how it feels to be human, to emerge from source in order to experience the whole spectrum of emotions, to forge profound soul connections during life, knowing we will lose them in death, finally to reunite with them once more in spirit form.

Where the bodies of the Stickmen meet in this artwork, I have added gold paint. It shimmers in the light, precious and true (read the captions under each pic).

When I'm painting and I'm in good flow, I go somewhere else. I think there must be an extra dimension just for creation, where time stands still and we co-create with higher beings.

Here I'm getting texture on the background of my latest painting from the Stickmen series.

Next up at the exhibition: "Acoustic Force"

What a strange way to express what it feels like to be alive, right?

First I painted the Stickmen in black acrylic, living.
Then, I added the pink background, human.
After that I haloed them with gold, magnified.

I planned to go back over the Stickmen to refine them, but they begged me not to. They were perfect as they are - energized and alive.

There's a second part to this painting, the Acoustic part. I hope you get a chance to call in and see it - and hear it - in person while the exhibition is still on.

Next up in the exhibition: "Love in the City". Before I painted this one, I'd been working on some collage landscapes, but I'd just discovered canvas paper which meant I could layer the paint on much thicker.

I called it "Love in the City" because to me a city can mean danger, but love conquers fear. I enjoyed adding that splash of red in the green country grasses, the skyscrapers and boiling clouds, and look closer at that square patch of brightness on the horizon.

This is a tiny painting, just 4" square, but it invites me on a huge journey towards the unknown, towards more...

Visit with this artwork in person to see all the scratches and brushstrokes.
