🧵I’m back! 🧵
I cannot tell you how excited I am to be reopening my shop!
Owning Sophia Rose Crafts was wonderful. But so so HARD. I spent hours a day on social media drumming up business, creating content, doing finances, designing new products, responding to emails, ordering stock, trying (and failing) to beat the insta algorithms… all before I even sat behind my sewing machine to make orders. But this time round, its going to be a side-hustle as I work close to full-time hours in the NHS. So the pressure is off as I have a consistent salary already, even if it is a pants wage! 😉 I won’t need to push social media or sales anymore - I’ll just have my listing ticking away on Etsy 🥳
Behind the scenes, a big reason why I closed my shop last year was to spend more time with my husband. He would work all day, and I would sew all evening when he was home to have Sophia, so we barely spent time together. Fast forward almost 2 years, and sadly we’re divorcing. Its the worst thing I’ve ever been through, and because I don’t want it to happen, its a million times worse. But its clear there’s nothing I can do to change the inevitable outcome, so life has to go on and I need to pick myself up again.
So - 16 months later, its time to turn the dusty sewing machine back on 🥳 I haven’t touched it since I closed! I want to be a good role model for Sophia, and show her I can be successful - holding down a job, restarting my business, taking care of the house and bills, and everything in-between - all whilst being on my own. Sophia will no doubt reap the rewards of my crafting, in the form of more treats and days out! 😂💸
For now I’m going to focus on my cot-sized blankets, which was my most popular item. It also means I can turn them around quicker. I’m going to offer different colour choices too! 🥳
Crafting really is my therapy, and restarting my business is exactly what I need 🩷 Even if it does take away more of my near non-existent spare time! ⏰
Sophia Rose Crafts is BACK BABY!
