Hands up if you’re struggling to sleep in this heatwave 🙋♀️
Hot nights can make it much harder to switch off and get a good night’s sleep, but a few simple changes can make a big difference.
Here are 7 ways to help keep your bed and bedroom cooler:
1. Choose a breathable mattress - Look for natural fillings such as wool, cotton and latex, which can help regulate temperature and allow excess heat to escape.
2. Switch to natural bed linen - Cotton and linen sheets are breathable and moisture-wicking, making them a great choice when temperatures rise.
3. Choose a lighter duvet - Swap your thick winter duvet for a lightweight, low-tog option with breathable fillings.
4. Don’t forget your pillow - Wool, feather, down and ventilated latex pillows can help prevent heat building up around your head and neck.
5. Stay hydrated throughout the day - Drink plenty of water during hot weather, without leaving it all until just before bed.
6. Keep your pyjamas light - Choose loose-fitting, breathable nightwear made from cotton or linen rather than heavy synthetic fabrics.
7. Keep your curtains closed during the day - Blocking direct sunlight, particularly in south- or west-facing rooms, can help stop your bedroom getting quite so warm.
