Every year Party Kit Network CIC does an audit to track just how many disposables its members have helped to avoid ending up in landfill. We all use the same metric (tableware only), even though what we offer varies massively across the network and the impact of party kits will be much bigger than the number included. Using the same items for the audit means every member can take part, because tableware is at the heart of what we do. So here’s my contribution - 3,090 items that have NOT been used once and thrown away 🤩

Have I broken even on setting Party Smarty up yet? Nope! Do I regret setting Party Smarty up? NOPE! I love that this simple thing is helping parties become more sustainable in my corner of Wiltshire. I wonder how many disposables we’ll save this year. Come on Chippenham, let’s do this 💪🥳

It’s a new school year with a whole new set of parties being planned! Just a little reminder that you can ditch the disposables and make your parties more sustainable this year. PARTY KITS ARE NOT JUST FOR CHILDREN!!! This evening I had the absolute pleasure of going to a friend’s 40th birthday party and of course I offered to bring a party kit along to avoid any disposables being needed to feed 45ish people! The birthday girl and her hubby have an amazing pizza oven in their garden, and they kept up a steady stream of truly delicious pizzas while everyone who came brought a side/salad/pud to share. It was a gorgeous, bright, colourful, joyful celebration of a wonderful woman and the rainbow party kit fitted right in ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜

How bright and lovely does this setup look? A quick turnaround for this hire with 30 rainbow plates and cups, our bright bunting and a couple of food trays bringing the colour to Derry Hill’s Lansdowne Hall! Happy 4th birthday, A! 🥳

This is the record-breaking I want to be talking about - a stunning 4 party kits were out across Chippenham and Corsham this weekend! 😍 Check out these pics to see what combination of hires people went for if you’re after party inspiration! I learned this weekend that the gutterball run fits quite neatly in a Kia Niro with the back seats down, and that running the dishwasher repeatedly while the sun is shining and the solar panels are freshly cleaned (thank you !) is really very satisfying.

The reuse revolution is alive and well in Chippenham and I’m so happy to be playing a part in making parties a little bit more sustainable 🥳🥳🥳

Another 1st this weekend - a double booking for a surprise 30th birthday party 🥳 2 XL party pastel kits were hired for a party of 60 people so they had plates, bowls, cups and cutlery for everyone plus 4 jugs for drinks. Thank you for being a Party Smartypants and choosing to reuse, S 🥳🥳🥳

Oh help! Oh no! It’s a Gruffalo!

Another day, another Party Smarty party 🥳 I love parties in the garden - and this one was so much fun to plan! We’ve had a pile of logs at the bottom of the garden since we moved in 10 years ago and when our Gruffalo obsessed now 2 year old’s party was coming up, I knew exactly what we had to do with them 😄 Making Mouse masks and retelling the story was completed by my 5 year old jumping out dressed up as the Gruffalo 😍

We used the BRIGHTS party kit today (a perfect choice for toddlers as they’re small plates) as well as the tuff tray and the guttering ball run, all available to hire. The tuff tray was the quickest type of setup - we painted some pasta green yesterday for the scrambled snake and then just chucked a load of other dry ingredients on with some googly eyes (which for some reason we have an obscenely large quantity of 🤷‍♀️) and some bits from the play kitchen. The purple prickles gave us a good opportunity to use the playdoh that’s been mixed (😭) and we just so happen to have a whole lotta Gruffalo puzzles and books already. So except for a bit of printing we didn’t buy a single thing for today’s party!

- scrambled snake (spaghetti and pesto)
- roasted fox (carrot sticks)
- orange eyes (orange cherry tomatoes)
- poisonous warts (green grapes)
- terrible tusks (melon)
- terrible teeth (yoghurt covered raisins)
- Gruffalo crumble (flapjacks)
- purple prickle juice (apple and blackcurrant squash)
- Gruffalo claws and biscuits
- Gruffalo birthday cake! 🎂

From a village hall yesterday to my garden today! We had a family get together this afternoon and since the rainbow set had just been washed it was the obvious choice! Also: the cake was made in an 8” tin so a good reference point for the size of the food trays!

Another outing for the rainbow XL party kit today, for a 5th birthday party at Shaw Village Hall. 30 bright and lovely plates, cups and bowls were used during the party. That’s another 90 disposable items that weren’t used and thrown in landfill! 🥳
