11 weeks today.

I am almost back to where I was.Actually, that is not quite true. I am already better than I was because my legs are finally the same length and I am no longer in constant pain.

I am back in my warriors, triangles, handstands, and all the things I love, these glute stabilising exercises are now part of my daily routine too.

My consistent yoga practice made this recovery so much smoother. And I do not just mean the physical practice. When movement became limited, meditation, breath, and discipline were still there. I could still do the actual yoga.

The new hips have given me enormous relief and a chance to rebuild. It’s like being a beginner all over again with 30 years of experience.

Full schedule is back on! (Plus this Friday 6:15 rocket 3 at Mission)

Thank you all for an amazing week!!!! Up close and personal deep dive into rocket 1 for some and a dip the toes in party for others. In Rocket yoga you get to do what you want. This is one of the many reasons we love it.

Today was my last hydrotherapy session before I take off tomorrow.

This work is such an important part of my recovery. I am learning how to drive my new car without dropping the transmission in the road or wearing out the tires with misalignment thanks to my task master , who has already transformed my walk and posture. (He’s hydro/ohysio/pilates master/and def some kind of massage)

Six weeks ago I had both hips replaced. (Thank you ). I celebrated with a handstand.

In between, there has been yoga, strength work, physio, and consistent effort.

Hips are ready just in time for the trainings, and I am also looking forward to returning home afterwards and resuming my regular classes.

Still super chuffed by prof wilson saying my muscles were amazing (he had an inside view). I hadn’t been able to do much at all except remnants of my yoga practice, especially at the end. Great to have someone who has seen the inside report on the effects of yoga! Like a pre-cadaver study!

Anyhoo. Big thanks to yoga for keeping my hips going this long, drs Wilson and Kley () for my new titanium hips, and for getting them moving again.

Chance favors the prepared mind. And wow was I ever ready for my new hips! I am amazed how something I complained about for years (ok decades) like my legs feeling different lengths and constant hip and knee issues, led me to the life I love—yoga. Now it’s brought me to a brand new start, stronger than ever, thanks to my new titanium hip. Over the last couple of years, waiting for surgery, I missed so much—but I learned deeply about the spine, meditation, and pain. Now, with saucha (cleanliness) from the Yoga Sutras in mind, I’m relieved to be able to clean my house (I’m literally bleaching tile grout. So satisfying) —and I’ll be gardening soon, too. Remember, the wave goes down and the wave goes up. Trust the process.

I feel like I have a brand new lease on life. I am eternally grateful to yoga for holding me together long enough to find

And right in time for Majorca!

Enjoy the experience of being alive.

That was the purpose statement that I came up with during my first teacher training with Larry 25 years ago. It actually Dorothy from the center of excellence I met through Larry, but that is a whole other story…

I never had dreams of toes touching my head or splits or anything. The smiling face photo was taken by the daughter of my first private client in San Francisco. My dentist! She noticed the change in me and asked me to teach her! One day I came in for my teeth cleaning, and she said. “Amme, I have to ask you. What have you been doing? I’ve been wanting to ask you because I have seen how you have changed over the last two years.” She changed my life just by noticing how I had changed with yoga. Also I discovered Abraham hicks from a taxi driver on the way to party at her house!

It’s been a while since I’ve done a deep post, and even longer since I’ve sent out one of my very unique deep emails, I know. But sometimes you have to think about stuff and sometimes you have to do stuff and sometimes you have no idea what’s going on and you feel like you’re just waiting around. This is life. The Pava chakra. And we keep coming back to the middle. But you have to ask yourself what is the middle?

Now that my hips are made of titanium, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want to do for the next 50 years.

I don’t want to get good at yoga. I want to party. At least until sunset. And do yoga of course, but just for the fun of it. Joseph Campbell said, “if you really want to help the world, you need to teach people how to live in it. You need to teach people how to participate joyfully in the sorrows of this world.”

Obvs I’m chilling the next couple of weeks while my new titanium hips settle, but 2026 is looking hot, and it has me thinking… what am I teaching? It’s not a yoga sequence it’s a state of mind. It’s meditation. It’s prana. Learn to focus your mind and your body. And have fun FFS!!!

Thanks for my new fave mantra:
What’s the best that could happen?

27/4-1/5 off grid rocket lifestyle immersion. Yes learn to teach better blah blah blah - but mostly by learning to be you

834 days.

That’s how long since I had my x-ray confirming I needed a double hip replacement, and was put in the physio app “while I waited.” Obviously it started long before that, and I had a few complications along the way that slowed the process down. And it turns out I am so glad that it did. Finding the right Dr was worth the wait!

Aching hips and knees are what brought me to yoga in the first place. What began as a way to cope became a way to stay strong—physically and mentally—through NHS waiting lists, delays, and a lot of uncertainty. And thank goodness hip arthritis does not affect handstands!

Thursday, March 5, I’m having both hips replaced. If you have seen me hobbling around like a drunken cowboy you won’t be surprised by this news!

After all this time, the timing has worked out exactly as it should. I’ve landed (after thorough research!) with surgeons () I trust completely, and I feel very lucky to be in their hands.

If I can do 834 days, I can do 6 more.

New hips. New era. Bring it on!
