Heat stress in UK dairy herds is often underestimated - but the data tells a different story.

Fertility and production can begin to decline at a THI of just 57 (around 14°C), with conception rates, milk protein yield and oestrus activity all affected well before temperatures feel extreme.

With humidity regularly exceeding 60% between May and August, conditions for heat stress are more common than many producers expect.

🐄 Meet William Bristol - dairy farmer in the Ribble Valley, Clitheroe.

Farming 130 cows at 700ft, William has built a system focused on getting as much milk as possible from forage.
