A happy day in the shop selling my lovely things to lovely people.

It brings me so much joy to see people smiling as they take home things I’ve loved, all with a story.

Old pre loved and beautiful new finds selected by me. Nothing makes me happier than when people love my choices.

Another lovely day in the shop today.

Supported by locals and their guests, it really doesn’t go unnoticed that you choose to spend your pennies with me.

A few things sold today that held a special place in my heart. Jewellery that i silently sent on its way to its new home with my love, knowing the lady who made it, along with all my rings, is no longer with us.

Learning to detach from things has been a new life lesson for me. At least 75% of my stock is from my home. It’s been a great relief to me to learn that when I let things go the people that buy them are thrilled. 50p Christmas ornaments I’ve had for years, my beloved Cath Kidston, my children’s first china and things of my mothers and grandmothers that find new love with strangers who become friends in my shop.

My tag line pre loved-to love again is very apt.

Seeing people’s joy with their purchases makes it easier for me to let them go.
I’m getting more used to it and braver at selecting things from my rammed full house to take round to the shop. I wash everything in warm soapy water, drying it carefully, using the time to convince myself I’m actually sure I can part with it.

It’s a new joy. And it’s bringing me happiness.

A £1 shark bringing joy. Please and thank yous from holiday kids in anoraks & gloves.

Holiday mum remembering her childhood, holiday dad is far too tall for Clovelly “it’s our modern day diet” he tells me. Holiday girl is desperate for a mermaid berry lip gloss, holiday mum says no. My heart breaks a little bit. I bite my lip.

One of these days I’ll write it all in a book.
