CLOSURE OF THE CLOTHES COLLECTION HUB

It is with a heavy heart, we announce the closure of The Clothes Collection Hub.

One year on since we first opened the doors, and after significant efforts to make the concept work, we have made the difficult decision to permanently close The Clothes Collection Hub.

Sadly, this means we will no longer be able to accept your donations of unwanted clothes and accessories.

We have reached this decision as a result of challenges in achieving the needed volumes of second-hand clothes donations and increasing business expenses, which means we have never been able to cover basic operating costs at the hub in the way that we originally envisaged, despite trying a wide range of different operating models - we have now deemed the concept to be unviable.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the local community for your support. We’ve been proud to work alongside a small number of dedicated community partners who we have supported in various ways and we hoped to be able to make this initiative a real success. We are working with our community partners to bring those relationships to a close and to allocate funds.

Lastly, if anyone would like to provide a new home for our Community Library, which was lovingly created by Grace, one of our dedicated volunteers, we would love to see this project continue to grow as it has been so well supported by the local community. Thank you to Grace, and all the other Volunteers including Denise and Lisa to name but a few, who have given up their time to support in the hub in the past year.

Thank you once again for your support, not just in terms of collecting your unwanted clothes, but also for initiatives such as the Community Library, which was launched alongside events such as our Cuppa Club and Book Swap - all designed to encourage community cohesion, as well as tackling loneliness and isolation locally.

We have really enjoyed getting to know so many of you and wish everyone in Cottingham and the surrounding areas all the best.

Thank you to the kind person that donated all these lovely kids clothes! It was a joy for me and Grace to sort through the clothes left in the green bank outside the shop.
Keep bringing your clothes old clothes and accessories to us 🤗 we’re open 9:30-14:30 Mon-Fri with the green bank outside for when we’re closed. ♻️

We are very happy to have Friends of Croxby on board as one of our Community Partners. Every donation of unwanted clothes labelled as ‘Friends of Croxby’ here at the hub will count towards generating grant funding for them.

Friends of Croxby PFA (Parents, Friends Association) organise a range of events aimed at providing children and their parents, friends and families with the opportunity to meet socially and raise money for Croxby Primary School projects at the same time. Over a number of years their very successful fund-raising events have provided a wide range of equipment and facilities that enrich and improve the learning environment for their children.

A big thank you to Tony for this amazing piece of art he painted and for kindly allowing us to have it on display in the hub. 🎨 When he popped in he noticed an old generic canvas had been donated, he asked if he could take it home and ingeniously used it to create this amazing original artwork. Not only is it beautiful, it’s a great example of Upcycling ♻️ if you’re dropping off some donations come and check out Tony’s painting. 😍

Look at all this! 😱 A day full of sorting through your wonderful donations! We accept clothes, shoes, bags and belts which are all recycled ♻️ please keep them coming ❤️ if you’re wanting your donations to go towards one of our community partners totals just name them when you pop in. 😁

Did you know we're an official pick up point for RE: Uniform? If you're in the local area and need uniform but can't travel to RE: Uniform's premises, you can ask them to send your chosen uniform to us at 22 The Parkway in Cottingham! Then you can pick it up from us at a time that suits you between 9:30-14:30 Monday-Friday. ♻️

It's market day! If you're in the area why not swing by and get rid of that bag of old clothes that's been collecting dust. The clothes are re-worn, keeping them out of landfill, and money goes to local community groups and clubs. (we also take accessories) ♻️🩳👗
