A small boy and his father,
The best friend he ever had,
In his eyes, he is his hero,
He wants to be just like his dad.
He watches as his father works,
Keen to help and learn the way,
Looking on in admiration,
He will be just like him one day.
Time passes by, the boy grows up,
No longer just along for the ride,
He learned the ways of his father,
They work together, side by side.
All too soon, the boy becomes a man,
With ideas of his own,
But he's still true to what his father taught,
And the ways that he was shown.
An unspoken bond between them,
Where respect is earned and battles won,
There is no greater love and friendship,
Than between a father and his son.
The boy now works independently,
His father still there to help and guide,
And as the boy did, all those years ago,
His father watches on with pride.
