Most of Sharpe’s adventures took place during the Peninsular War. Therefore I thought it would be appropriate for the diorama base to have a similar theme to it. Size wise its approx. 34cm x 34cm, with four of K&C’s figures (so far). The cart (a fiver from Ebay) is from the Britain’s 1970’s Farm series which I have repainted.

It was whilst waiting for adhesive/paint etc. to dry out on the Where Eagles Dare project I made a couple of diorama bases for myself.

The first one completed is a countryside theme (somewhere in France) to display a recently acquired K&C WW2 British Sherman tank & crew. Actually, I remodelled the base of the Sharpe’s Ri**es diorama to suit the size of the tank, and then added the wall etc.

I have made a new base for the 95th Ri**es, photo to follow.

I’m pleased to say that the “Mother of all Terrain Boards” has been completed and was collected yesterday. So now I am able to post a few photos.

The theme is based on the film “Where Eagles Dare” which is a snow covered mountain/hillside which will be covered (by the client) with fir trees. Size wise is quite large at 0.75 metres wide with sides of 1.4 metres & 1.7 metres and just over 0.6 metre high! This is made out of 5 sections which slot/butt together. Unbelievably it is an add-on for an existing diorama, size approx. 1.8 metres long!

The Lysander plane and WBritains figure is for scale purposes, just to give an idea of the size.
Hopefully I will be able to post some client photos in the not too distant future of the entire setup, which will be nearly 5 metres long.

At one point I wondered if it was all going to fit together, but it turned out all WHITE in the end!!!!

It’s been a few weeks since I last posted, but I’m currently working on the “Mother of all Terrain Boards” (well, for me anyway!) and hopefully I will be in the position to post a few photos in the not too distant future.

At the Scale Model South show I took a commission for a 1/35th scale Vietnam themed diorama base, approx. 30cm x 20cm.

The idea is that there will be a couple of US soldiers wading up the stream (figures will be supplied by the client).

Happy to say it was collected today.

Today is the 5th anniversary of La Sarouche Diorama Bases!

It’s been 5 years on Facebook, 13 shows & hundreds of diorama/terrain bases.

Therefore, I would like to thank all those who have taken the time and effort to follow along on this page.

A big thank you to all the collectors who have made purchases & commissions, and those who have stopped by for a chat at the various shows that I have attended.
