Autumn Mist is now fully finished! 🍂 I’ve been adding those final little touches over the last few days — including delicate fallen leaves dotted along the pathway — and it feels finished now.

Good morning! ☀️ Someone recently asked what the back of my work looks like — especially when building texture and playing with tension — so here’s front and back of my tree piece!

Brown thread on top, green in the bobbin. Adjusting the tension pulls some of that green through to the front for that soft mossy look — fascinating to see both sides! 🌿

Good morning.☀️ I’m working on my autumn woodland piece today and thought I’d share a little real-time process with you. I’ve been tweaking tension again, both on the bobbin holder and top thread. I keep a spare bobbin case just for this; it’s so much quicker and easier, and I never have to worry about messing up the tension on my everyday one.

I’ve got brown thread on top and green in the bobbin. This lets me control exactly how much green comes up to the surface to create that soft, mossy look on the trees. 🌿 First I loosen the little screw on the bobbin case, then adjust the top tension up or down depending on how much green I want to pull through. It gives such a lovely, rich texture and that perfect mossy feel.
