Nature writer and urban nature champion, Amanda Tuke, is on hand this Saturday morning to guide you through the streets of Dorchester, sharing her love of how nature always finds a way, no matter the environment it finds itself in.

Another day supplying books for the fabulous children's Dorchester Literary Festival, with ace author Jim Beckett, who delighted and captivated a very excited audience of 5-7 year olds with the antics of his mischievous character, Buzz Sausage Wolf. Woof!

It's the fantastic Children's Dorchester Literary Festival at The Thomas Hardye School this week, brilliantly organised by Jenny Stevens, librarian at the school, with books proudly supplied by your favourite independent bookshop, Teasel and Skylark!

Jenny has ensured that there is something for everyone, inviting a fantastic array of authors for all ages, from 5 to 15, including Ele Fountain with her book Fake, Stew Foster today with book Can You Feel The Noise, and tomorrow Jim Beckett with his Buzz Sausage Wolf series, to name just a few.

Introducing our latest innovation - a walking A board!!

Created using the latest in 3D robotic printing, our walking A board is able to detect customers who are in need of fabulous events to go to and will stop to let them make a note of what our brilliant shop is putting on next!

We were thrilled to be chosen as the official bookseller for the launch last night of social media sensation Daniel Wilson's brilliant book Great British Architecture, at The King's Arms Hotel in Dorchester, just round the corner from our shop, Teasel and Skylark.

Daniel gave an enraptured audience a glimpse into a selection of the beautiful buildings contained in his book, including very local interest in the form of Poundbury.

Despite having nearly half a million followers on Instagram, Daniel was delightfully down to earth and gave an extremely engaging talk followed by a range of great questions from the audience.

Many thanks to Daniel for a great evening.

We have some signed copies of his beautiful book in the shop, while stocks last.

Amanda’s book Wild Pavements was in the long-list for this year’s Wainwright Nature Writing Prize, and challenges the idea that nature is only found in the countryside, highlighting instead the often surprising ecosystems hiding right in our urban streets, canals, and pavement cracks!
