Things have been busy in the workshop, here are some of the things that have been worked on. Dent removal, realignment, servicing, hole patching etc.

Servicing slots are available over the next fortnight so if you wish your instrument to be serviced and ready before the Scottish Championships (currently a 3 day turnaround) please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

A bit of dent repair on a Conn 88H trombone, complete with an internal clean and re-lubrication.

This Holton bass trombone took a knock to the slide section during a recent band marching job. The inner slide had been knocked out of alignment and the solder joint fractured. A full strip down of the leg, clean out of the old solder and re-soldered. Trombone slide now perfectly in line, the rest of the instrument serviced, a crease out the bell and the rotary valves rotating with zero resistance.

It’s not all brass, recently I took on a project to restore a premier marching bass drum which will show its face at this years Whit Friday Marches. The process involved delaminating the drum, filling and re-drilling all holes, sanding, priming and spraying and lacquering the drum, changing the tension lugs, rods and claws and adding the finishing touch, a customised set of Remo skins.
