Engraved Glass Design Hand engraved glassware created in Scotland. Personalised designs shaped by place, tradition and considered craftsmanship. We engrave glass. That’s it.

Nothing else. No distractions. No fooling ourselves that we can be great at everything. No attempt to conquer the whole world. We just do our best to conquer our bit of it. So each day Helena comes in and creates the best designs she knows how. Then John, our engraver and master craftsman does the rest. There is a great deal of satisfaction creating something of such superior quality that you know

each glass will be beautiful, practical and meaningful. It makes the hard work and the obsessing over each and every detail worth all the effort. That’s our reward. That’s why we stick to just engraving glass.

Sometimes the design is already there.

Caroline's starting point for these two christening glasses was a simple sketch: four individual initials, loosely staggered across the glass.

Rather than turning them into a conventional monogram, the original idea was retained and the movement of the sketch resolved into a more deliberate diagonal composition.

The letterforms were kept simple, with gentle curves to prevent the arrangement becoming too formal. A small amount of space was introduced into the R to lighten the centre of the composition.

The finished engraving remains what was commissioned: a simple typographic treatment of four initials, developed from Caroline's original sketch.

One design doesn't necessarily mean one layout.

These four bottles were very different in height, width and proportion, but were intended to belong together as a set.

The olive branch was prepared individually for each form, adjusting its length, detail and position to suit the available engraving area. The wording and smaller olive motif on the reverse were treated in the same way.

The working file in the second image is the part that isn't normally seen: artwork development, bottle outlines, positioning, typography and the versions considered along the way.

From there, the selected designs were developed into engraving layouts for approval before being prepared for sandblasting.

From the studio.

A presentation piece created for today's first round South Challenge Cup fixture between Oakley United and Newton Stewart.

Both club crests were brought together on a clear glass shard, with an abstract football net developed across the surfaces of the glass.

One achievement. A coordinated presentation.

A course record, Hole in One or significant club achievement can form the starting point for a collection of presentation pieces.

Here, a detailed engraved scorecard plaque sits alongside a circular Hole in One award, with the same design language also adapted for a crystal decanter.

Club crests, scorecards, signatures and details of the achievement can all be incorporated into designs prepared specifically for the form of each piece.

Inspired by the Tartan Army, a traffic cone, a familiar song and the sight of Scottish supporters enjoying themselves wherever they travel.

Sometimes an idea appears almost fully formed.

This one arrived while watching Scotland fans singing "Yes Sir, I Can Boogie".

Forty Years. Seven Signatures. Two Glasses.

Created for a ruby wedding anniversary, these cocktail coupes were engraved with the signatures of the couple's children alongside a bespoke D&A 40 Years monogram prepared in the studio.

Each signature was supplied individually and arranged around the bowl of the glass, preserving handwriting that spans generations and creating a lasting record of the family behind the celebration.

Hand-prepared, sandblasted and engraved in our Fife studio.
