Well it looks like summer has finally arrived! Why not celebrate with some new earrings to go with your summer outfit 😃 I’ve got some new stoneware and porcelain earrings for sale at the shop, including these cute dangly ‘flower power’ ones which I think are quite fun and summery. My jewellery findings are Sterling Silver. I purchase them from a UK supplier that uses manufacturers committed to using recycled metals where feasible.

The card mounts are hand printed by me 😊. The card, purchased from a UK company, has a recycled content of 30 - 100%.

I’ve finally made a soap dish that I’m happy with! 😆 It’s fired to stoneware temperatures, so it’s pretty robust and suitable for every day use and is raised on ‘feet’ so water will drain away, keeping your soap bar in tip top condition.

I currently have one for sale at the shop, decorated with a geranium leaf print, but I hope to make more soon if it’s something that people would find useful. If you’ve got space on your sink for one of these, you can ditch the plastic hand soap pumps and go back back to good old fashioned soap 😄 I’m sure there are some lovely ceramic pumps out there too - something for me to aim at making 🤩

I’ve taken some more of my handcrafted stoneware buttons down to for sale. There are some new designs as well as some old favourites. Hopefully there’s something inspiring in there for keen crafters 😊

Cards of 6 buttons are priced at £9.00. As they are fired to stoneware temperatures, they’re extremely durable and are suitable for machine washing.

Thank heavens for a change in the weather over the weekend! I daren’t look at the weather forecast, but I hope we have more blue sky days ahead 🙏
Yesterday we ventured to the Llanymynech Rocks Nature Reserve, a former limestone quarry on the Welsh/Shropshire border. I was blown away by the masses of wildflowers growing there. We spotted three different types of wild orchid, which I think were bee orchid, butterfly orchid and pyramidal orchid as well as carpets of thyme, marjoram, bird’s foot trefoil and yellow rock rose. It’s a bit of a climb to get up to the quarry, but so worth it. I hope to return later in the year to see if I can spot the large dark green and silver-washed fritillary butterflies that arereputedly found there in August. Isn’t nature brilliant! 🤩

Yesterday I had an amazing time at the Introduction to Silver Smithing workshop at . In the morning we got to try out different techniques that we could then apply to making a piece of silver jewellery in the afternoon. With the wonderful tutoring of we made these gorgeous rings. Mine is the one on the far right hand side.

I did the workshop because ultimately I’d like to be able to make my own findings and pieces to enhance my ceramic jewellery. One of the things I wanted to have a go at was making silver balls and learning how to solder them on, which is what I did to make my ring, with help from Loree. It might be a while before I get to make my own pieces, but I’m really looking forward to building on what I learned yesterday.

Happy Good Friday! I hope you’ve got something nice planned for this long bank holiday weekend.

I took a trip to the shop this morning to drop off a new batch of my stoneware and porcelain earrings. Phew, my cube is not looking so bare now 😅 Please swipe to see a selection of the earrings I’ve added today.

I’m making some Easter chocolate coconut nests for my grandson, just like my mum used to make for me many years ago 🥰 Trouble is, the mini eggs I bought to go in them aren’t suitable for toddlers. I’ve solved that problem by scoffing the lot 😋, but what can I use instead to fill my little nests? Any suggestions for a mini egg replacement that’s safe for toddlers?

Hello! I got back to making again a few weeks ago and I’m pleased to say that I’ve taken a new selection of my handmade ceramic buttons down to the shop. They are all carded in sets of six and include hand-painted and bold glaze finished buttons. Each card is £9.00.

If you’re interested, swipe to see a selection of what is available. It’s quite tricky to capture the finish of some of the glazes in a photograph, so I’d recommend you drop in at the shop for a better look if you’re passing 😁 It would also give you the opportunity to check out the other lovely work for sale there. If you’re looking for an alternative to a chocolate egg for an Easter gift, it’s a good place to look. In fact, thinking about it, a couple of my button designs include bunnies!

This is my mum, Ivy. Sadly, just before Christmas she had a serious stroke and spent a month in hospital before being moved to the wonderful Bassetlaw Hospice in Retford, where she died on 23rd January. The staff at the hospice were marvellous and I can’t thank them enough for allowing me and mum to spend her last four days on earth together, being looked after with great kindness.

The past couple of months have been pretty traumatic for me and consequently I haven’t felt up to doing social media, but I do hope to start catching up with you all again soon and joining in the chat.
