Solid brass feels great in the hand, and will patina with use, developing a pattern on the surface which tells the story of its use. You could also keep it polished, either way its a lovely material. Paired with the gorgeous graphite in blackwing pencils .

These little pens are super for when youre on the go. The lid screws on so your pocket is safe from ink mishaps. My preference is for a stub nib, but they come in a few different sizes to suit different handwriting.

One of several tubes of paint, made by , whose colour uses lapis lazuli pigment.
Up until the invention of modern chemistry and the subsequent explosion in the range of available synthetic pigments, lapis lazuli was the most effective blue pigment for painters. Due to the cost it was often reserved for very important subjects, such as the Virgin Mary.
French ultramarine, the modern replacement, is named after this pigment. Ultramarine means “beyond the sea” and refers to the origins of the lapis lazuli minerals mined in modern day Afganistan.

I love the weight on these, they are milled from aluminium and then anodised green, blue or red. The weight gives a lovely feedback to your motions and helps smooth movements, especially in an overhand grip. The wide range of chalks, charcoals and graphite leads for these makes them really versatile.
