Warnings as 'Europe's very hot air pushes our way'

Temperatures could soar to 35C (95F) as "very hot air from Europe pushes our

way," an expert has said.

BBC weather presenter Sara Thornton said the mercury could hit 32C (89.6F) on

Monday, before staying in the high 20s or low 30s throughout the week.

She added that the area is likely to be officially in a heatwave by Wednesday, and

that it could last until the end of June, with temperatures potentially peaking at

35C (95F).

As temperatures rise, warnings have been issued about a risk of fires and the

dangers of open water swimming. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has

also issued an amber heat-health alert for the south-west of England from 12:00

BST on Thursday until 20:00 on Tuesday.

"It's fit and forget": Rimpact claims this MTB tech will make your gravel bike handle better

More mountain bike tech enters the world of gravel with the release of Rimpact's

latest Gravel Tuned Mass Damper

Rimpact has released a tuned mass damper (TMD) for your gravel bike to reduce

fatigue and improve the bike's handling.

TMDs are already uses in F1 cars and skyscrapers, and World Cup downhill

mountain bikers have used them for a couple of seasons now, with a number of

companies now offering production off-the-shelf products for racers. TMDs

contain a weight which is suspended between two springs, which absorb bumps by

delaying the transmission of kinetic energy.

El Niño under way and threatens weather extremes, scientists say

El Niño - the natural Pacific weather pattern that pushes up global temperatures - has officially begun, US scientists say.

The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has declared that El Niño conditions are now under way in the tropical Pacific, with sea surface temperatures having risen sharply in recent months.

Many forecasts suggest this could end up as a so-called "super" El Niño, and even be among the strongest ever recorded.

Coming on top of decades of human-caused warming, it could bring another record-hot year - most likely in 2027 - with disruption to weather, food supplies and economies running well into that year.
