On holiday! And so are some of my prints.

Taking the newly finished campervan off round Scotland and Donegal for a few weeks, and going to let my phone die and not charge it 😅 I’ve been feeling so scatty and all over the place, I can’t wait for some time to just be present and switch everything off.

See you later!

I’ve still been getting messages about the AI print, and I’ve the past few months I’ve seen even more artists post about AI theft and copying. I’m about to take a few weeks off so thought I’d update you.

For me this particular issue is resolved (for now), I don’t have money to pursue this further and honestly I don’t want to. I’d rather focus on making art. I suspect this is only the beginning, but I was so touched by how many people commented and showed their support.

I got a lot of people leaving comments saying it isn’t AI that’s the thief, it’s the people, and yes I understand that, but when AI has been trained on all of our work, I believe that is theft. I know there is a space for AI (and if it could do my taxes for me I’d be delighted) but we shouldn’t be outsourcing our creativity to it.

Tablecloths and bandanas, printed with a linocut design of garden objects, flowers and insects.
🪏🪴🫜🐞🪲

I hand-carved and printed the Lino designs and then scanned them in to create the overall pattern.

The tablecloth is printed on a linen-cotton blend and is a slightly paler green than the bandana.

The bandana will be available on either cotton lawn or 100% silk twill, in green or red with a pink border.

Available for pre-order from tomorrow (Wednesday 8 July) .

Sadly not my garden (I wish) but a beautiful spot in Fife.

Photos of good things in June

I worked on my Check Mate print this month, as well as a few more things that are in the pipeline.
I went on a weekend trip down the coast to Lindisfarne and Bamburgh in Northumbria.
I took part in the Hepworth Wakefield Print Fair.
I started hypothyroid medication and hope it’s going to get rid of my fatigue, that makes it feel like I’m moving through honey.
I thought a lot about upcoming exhibitions like Lino North.
I read two great books, The Artist by Lucy Steed and A Family Matter by Claire Lynch. Both 5⭐️

RIP Maurice the Mouse. I rescued him from the side of the road, but he didn’t make it.

Sun on beech trees. Their trunks always remind me of skin and muscular arms.

Painted a room yellow and it’s my new favourite colour.

There are now just 5 available, holding the rest of the edition for exhibitions later this year.

The ship in the bottle is the part I’m most pleased with.

How I sketch and plan my prints on Procreate. Many many layers and redraws.

The second layer being carved.

Yellow layer drying in the studio.

Orange layer.
