We've had a lot of famous, kind and talented people pass away this year, I've personally had some close friends and acquaintances die too.. The list is long. The one that affected me profoundly and made me sad was Maxi Jazz. Front man of Faithless whom I had the great pleasure to see live on at least 3 occasions.
A truly, truly kind heart. I very much doubt there was one bad bone or thought on his body.
May you rest in eternal light and peace.

So sad. A kind man and great performer. You will be missed

WHO NEEDS VAR? JUST BRING ON A PRINCE!

On a hot June afternoon some 40 years ago I was watching the FIFA World Cup and looking forward to watching France Vs. Kuwait.
it was the second match of this group's stage and Kuwait had shown real determination in their previous match against Czechoslovakia which ended 1-1
France were a very good side with some legendary players like Giresse, Girard Tigana, Six and a certain M. Platini. However, France had lost their first group match against Poland, so they needed blood and points in their second.

France dominated from the off and were leading 3-0. Kuwait got one back and France who didn't mince about in those days went for the kill. They duly scored a 4th, but at this point Prince Fahd Al-Ahmed Al-Shabah, The President of the Kuwait F.A. (and brother to the big boss of Kuwait) walked on to the pitch to stop play and have a quiet chat with Mr.Stupar the Soviet referee.
The match was suspended for some 20 minutes.
The official line is that the Kuwaiti players stopped playing as they had heard a whistle which they thought had signalled off side, but in reality it was from the crowd!

Outraged Prince Fahd, who by all accounts wasn't too happy how the game was going thus far, decided to stop the match and recall his players.

Urban footballing myth has it that he told the referee through an interpreter that he was taking the team off the pitch The game was over in his eyes. It now appears he only wanted the last French goal annulled. He duly got the goal annulled, but through some of my old acquaintances and ex-work colleagues at Italia '90 I found out that FIFA were so embarrassed by the event that the only way they could appease Prince Fahd was to annull the goal and implore him to not remove the players from the pitch.

Problem was that "Le Bleus" weren't having it! They went on and scored a 4th goal almost instantly until their coach Michel Hidalgo implicitly told their captain (name escapes me but I think he is linked to football bribery and corruption) to take the foot off the accelerator!

Remember, I watched this live and my memory serves me well. Prince Fahd was fuming, I mean he was volcanic! His sole intention was to stop the match and get his team off. God only knows what was in store for those poor players but I doubt it was a bonus.

The match ended 4-1 to France. Kuwait has never played in the World Cup since then.
I think the same will be said of Qatar after today's performance.

The hypocrites at FIFA point the finger of blame at those who criticise Qatar.
FIFA is an organisation that should be closed down for good. We need a new World Football Governing body. Tabula rasa as the Romans would say.
FIFA are the sole cause of the chaos which will ensue at this World Cup. They awarded Qatar the right to host the games.
Qatar is a oil rich country with a population of just under 3 million people. They are not a footballing nation. They have very strict laws governing decency and alcohol consumption.
Culturally it will be very difficult for them to host these games. It will be a cultural shock for them as much as it will be for the fans.
They should NEVER have been given the right to stage the World Cup, but let's not blame Qatar! Blame FIFA who through their corrupt mafia like organisation will have almost certainly have taken hundreds of millions of Pounds as a bribe for this World Cup.
Infantino is the hypocrite here. Simply boycott this event. DON'T WATCH IT!

Fifa president Gianni Infantino accuses the West of "hypocrisy" in its reporting about Qatar's human rights record on the eve of the World Cup.

NOT great moments in the World Cup n.1

FIFA should be ASHAMED of themselves.
The awarding of the FIFA World Cup to Qatar is an insult to football fans the World over. It is an insult to fair minded, honest, truthful people anywhere in the World.
"Fair Play"? Where is the fair play in the appalling conditions the migrant workers are kept in? THE FACT that their passports are confiscated and they work 14-18 hour days in killer heat?
THE FACT that no one will ever know how many migrant workers have actually died?
THE FACT that Sepp Blatter, Michel Platini and FIFA were given hundreds of millions of $s to play this farcical event in Qatar. A bribe in plain sight of everyone.
THE FACT that Qatar is a totalitarian state where any deviation from their strict rules will result in the most serious of punishments
THE FACT that any LGBTQ+ people will be treated as worthless scum and will be beaten, tortured and imprisoned for simply being different
This World Cup more than any other is an embarrassment to anyone who partakes or even watches it. The powerful footballing associations of the World could have boycotted this farce, but decided not to.
All the deaths of these poor workers will be swept under the carpet. World footballing bodies will look away, and Gianni Infantino and his hence men will get away with murder and all in the name of football.

Players, supporters and the media are arriving in Qatar this week, but the facts and figures behind workers’ rights and human rights in the country remain hard to uncover
