Only four more sleeps until the Derby Festival kicks off on the iconic Surrey Downs and a tantalising £10k worth of prizes are there for the taking in Friday’s best dressed competition.
As a previous judge of the Style Awards, here are my three top tips for dressing to impress;
1. Don’t panic! There is still time to pull the perfect look together. Title sponsor Debenhams have some amazing pieces that won’t break the bank and have paired up with milliner Lisa Tan to create a stunning capsule collection. Or shop your own wardrobe or ask a friend if you can borrow that dress you covet. Renting your hat or fascinator will lean into being stylish & sustainable.
2. Comfort is key - winning style looks effortless so consider a block heel for the variety of surfaces & to ensure you enjoy your day. And make sure you pack a stylish wrap / brolly in case the unpredictable British summer has its way!
3. Don’t be afraid to push the boat out like I did last year, by donning a straw top hat which attracted lots of attention! And consider separates if you are struggling to find a dress to suit. I paired a vintage blouse with a skirt twice & both looks went down a storm. Bold jewellery & bags can elevate a simpler look too. Of course my TV client Francesca favours a monochrome look as a nod to Derby Day and let’s be honest, it always works a treat!
