For a long time I was asleep.

Not in the literal sense but a sort of waking slumber.

Mental health struggles, bad relationships and feeling overwhelmed I almost morphed into a version of me that worked on autopilot.

Don't get me wrong, I had good times and made precious memories with my children and loved ones but for a lot of it I think I was just in survival mode.

It wasnt until just over a year ago at the end of a relationship that I finally started to wake up properly.

I had already been doing the work but it was then that I became really aware of how asleep I had been.

It was time to make some promises to myself. It was time to focus on me and not relationships or what others expected or thought of me.

I needed to love myself.

I am still on that journey but I have made progress in ways I cannot measure. The growth I feel compared to a year ago - I wouldnt even recognise myself.

Living is about learning, growing, ascending and I will continue to do so.

A witch's apothecary is her best friend. Spell work, healing and recipes often rely on the powerful magic of herbs and flowers.

This would be my dream cabinet, though for now my collection is pretty conservative. Collections like this take time.

Those new to the practice often feel as if they must have all the things, but I would recommend focusing on a few herbs and flowers that can cover a lot of bases.

Lavendar is great for calmness and serenity as well as protection; rose petals can be used for all avenues of love (self, romance, platonic), bay leaves for manifestation and protection and so on so forth.

You could also learn about what is available around you in your community for free. Learn the healing and/or spiritual meanings behind local plants and how to forage them.

If you enjoy gardening, you could also start to grow your own and create your own supply – even if you only have a windowsill, it can be so nice to pick fresh herbs for your ritual bath from your own kitchen.

Accused witch VS the Bible – a test to prove witchcraft.

Superstitions said that witches were inexplicably light weight compared to 'normal folk,' so those genius men came up with this contraption to test those accused of witchcraft.

The reason people believed witches were lightweight was because it was believed they had no souls to weigh them down.

The accused would be sat in the chair and weighed against a large Bible. If they were found to be lighter, then they would be found guilty of Witchcraft.

Other tests also existed such as the trial by water where the accused would be thrown into water and should they drown they were innocent because magic didn't save them or "witch pricking" where the accused body would be shaved and then stuck with needles. If the marks didn't bleed this was thought of as the mark of the devil.

Women were the main victim of the above tests as well as many other torturous acts that were inflicted upon them to force confessions.

Around 75%-80% of those convicted and executed under the crime of witchcraft in Europe were women. Here are somet of their names.

When we look back at the European witch trials and the victims of these mass killings it is clear that the problem wasn't magic, it was women.

Healers, seers, loved by their communities. Women who choose live their own paths, who were too loud, too opinionated. They threatened the system.

A system built upon the oppression of women and male dominance. Anything they couldn't understand they had to squash.

Women were pitted against each other and the stakes were high – speak against her or you will be next.

50,000 people were killed throughout the European Witch Trials and yet the practices of those lost have lived. Women around the world are moving towards spiritual practice than ever. A unified awakening.

I remember those lost to us and it drives me to embrace my power as a woman and reclaim my voice. For them. For all women and girls. Until we are all safe, none of us are.

Waking up to this everyday was absolute heaven.

Nestled in the bay of Turunc in Turkey, this hotel offered everything and a stay here is a guarantee you will have the holiday you need.

Perfect for solo travellers, couples or families, the offers something for everyone.

The hotel's facilities are excellent for families with a waterpark, kids club, games and a dedicated babies pool.

For the adults there is the spa (which is excellent - highly recommend), a gym and cocktails served all throughout the day.

The food is varied and delicious with grill nights, specials and themed nights.

My favorite part of this location was the beach and the view I got to enjoy everyday. The landscape of Turkey is beautiful - a mix of rugged mountains and crystal clear waters with homes that seem to melt into the environment.

A short walk from the hotel will take you to the main part of Turunc, a small town with offerings of shops, markets and restaurants, very much worth an explore.

A special mention must be made for the staff at this hotel. Professional, friendly and enthusastic - they cannot do enough for you. I have travelled to many countries and visitied many hotels but I can say with confidence that the Turunc Resort Hotel had the best staff of any of them.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough and I hope I get to go back again one day.

Beltane Blessings to all 🔥 May 1st is not only the beginning of a new month but also the date of Beltane. It is a pagan sabbat celebrated my many as the height of spring with themes of fertility and abundance. It is the time of the sacred union between fire and earth. On Beltane we celebrate, focus on joy and hope, light bonfires (fire festival), make wishes and give thanks for the gifts nature brings.

What is meant to be for you will stay with intention. What is not meant for you is simply a lesson. An experience. A chapter. In the month of May we let ourselves shine. We seek the light, positivity, love and move away from the darkness of intrusive thoughts, judgement and fear. We give head space to day dreaming the possibilities, envisioning the future where everything works out. We begin to believe in ourselves again.
